Tonio's stats probably doesn't count the lands I took from Golden Horde as Euro, whereas its counted as Europe in game. I have only a single city + 1 colony outside of Europe(where Sibir normally is). Feel free to load the game and count manually, you'll see.

AARs go here then?

In 1492, Emperor Fredrick did not know what to do. To tech land, mint cash, was one plan too rash? His ministers said they were boulderdash. Infra tech might come in handy, but wait, I've governa's throughout the land, heh, how quaint.

He decided to go with the minting idea, to give him the funds for his soldiers, here-ea. With plenty of money to pay to his army, he knew his twenty provinces had no need for alarm-y.

The French valois had another thing in mind, an avaricious plot that was not very kind. With the DOW for Herr Fredrick the French soldiers advanced, the Low Countries peasants were surely in angst. But Fredrick did not flinch, nor did he quail, for somebody's poison caused his health to fail, and before he could read the letter as he lied in his bed, the poison had caused the emperor to be dead.

With emperor gone and the Frenchmen advancing, Maximillion ascended without ceremonial prancing. It was war that he craved, and his country to save, and a stout force of soldiers who had to be brave. But before he engaged his enemy on the field, he was contacted by the English, who agreed to yeild...

A grand army under command of Norfolk the oger, granted maximillion sell Flanders when it was all over. So the English fought our war, and rid the French from our doors, and the battles were sang by French troubadors.

When finally the Valois was tired of fighting, he payed us each gold and began fingernail biting. Back to fair Austria Max's noble did go, and prepared for more war with ai, don't you know. They liberated Milan, and ravaged the Pope, Venice was subdued, and many Germans were choked. Hungary agreed to cede Pest to Aus, while the others all recognized Max as their boss.

We looted and pillaged, and burned every village, and minted so much it was sacrilegious. With more money to spare than any other country, it was only logical to attack France with Marshal Von Frundsy. An army was gathered and sent to their borders, all men assembled from all quarters. Blasting through fortresses one and all, they were doing quite well, even though they were sized "small". When finally the Frenchies decided to face us, Von Frundsburg charged, it was audacious. But wise it did prove, the French lost their grove, and retreated about as fast as they could move. Barely ahead of our train, their speed was insane but our harryings continued to cause them some pain.

Now that war was a lot of fun, but Max demands Lorraine and Savoy so it can be done. The French armies have fought their very best, but they must quit now so they have time to rest.

A couple other things. I gave everyone credit for AARs. Should anyone, including myself, fail to deliver on this, they'll lose the points out of next session's tallies. So don't think about dodging your AAR duty... :D

Also, we need to codify our MT rules. Is everyone familiar with this concept? I'll come up with a ruleset shortly and we can talk about that as well.

IMHO, the MT system is near perfect, and with a minor change that degradation be done every session instead of every other session, it would be as close to perfect as it can get.

In 1492, much was on the Charles VIII's mind. Charles had inherited a French Kingdom with a simple mission: No England in the British Isles. But to the East lay a powerful Austria and to the South a newly unified and powerful Spain. One word can sum up much of his rule : arrogance, which proved to be quite costly for him.

He quickly prepared for war on Austria. England DoWed first, ostensibly for Scotland. Rather than wisely waiting for a resolution to this conflict, Charles decided foolishly to press ahead with his Austrian war. This proved to be a terrible idea, and unexpectedly the English landed with Norfolk and routed Marshal Foix almost to the sea. Things were looking grim as Austrian and English occupation armies poured in and began to seize provinces, as France with only a few troops could only stand by and watch. Even Ile de France fell before the might of the enemy armies and Charles fled in disgrace to the bastion at La Rochelle in Gascogne, which itself saw several sieges from the Austrians.

Marshal Foix meanwhile slowly rallied troops and nobles to his banner. After a year or two, he again took the field, routing both Austrian and English armies in his path and recapturing Ile de France. However, peace was signed ceding 200 ducats to England and Austria apiece as France was still in flames and needed time to recover.

The next few years were relatively peaceful for France. She annexed Lorraine and focused on her economy. When England seemed overstretched, she seized advantage of the opportunity and invaded calling Scotland, forcing a war-exhausted England to cede Calais without much of a fight.

She also took advantage of Austria's distraction with Venice and Hungary to annex Savoie, the former ally that had been forced into submission by the Austrians in the previous war. As expected the Austrians did nothing, although they were no doubt planning their revenge.

A deal was arranged with Spain to purchase Roussilon & Bearn, and during this transfer arrangement the treacherous Austrians, led by the renowned leader von Frundsberg invaded. France was ill prepared for this war, and found herself quickly on the defensive. Unfortunately it looks like the demanded provinces will have to be surrendered, although loyalists will continue to fight on for a little while at least. Our esteemed general, Navarre still lives with a force of 39k cavalry, so despite the daunting size of the Austrian treasury and the success of the Austrian invasion forces, it is possible, if unlikely, that he might stage a comeback of sorts and restore glory to the French crown.

You know, I might just scrap that idea, since it's really a pain to find out when people were at war. Maybe replace that with a +5 prestige bonus if a player doesn't go to war in a session or something. Or not. Opinions?

It is easy to remember and easy to check, was there war or not. So lets hope people be fair and did not want +prestige if they attacked someone, even AI.

1492 - Christobal de Colon is leaving Spain. In few months he reached Cuba coast, but I forgot about him (war with Papal State started) and he automaticly return to Canaries only with 3 ships :) But after that incident I focused on exploring and before 1498 I saw all east coast of America.

AAR 1492 - 1510

My Lord,

I think You will be interested in this report. It is document found in strongbox of that spanish aristocrat who was killed by our knights during his way to Krakow. It seems he wrote it to one of the austrian bishops to explain him what is happening in Spain.

" Dear J. ,

As all know Spain is strong and rich kingdom. We have big fleet, huge army, rich lands in Italy and a lot of cash in treasury. But how we get to that? here is small explination:

In Anno Domini 1493 our lord His Majesty Great King of Spain decided it is time to end with rebelions in italian provinces. Pope was trying to exploit that situation and used some of rebels against our ally Naples, but they respond with force and asked us to help. After one year Rome was sieged, but soon others Italians joined to war and we have to resuply army. It take us almost five years to defeat Milan, Tuscany, Genoa, Siena, Lombardia and Papal! Fortunately this war improved our realtions with Naples and after peace treaty with Rome they decided to join Spanish Kingdom. Now more than half of Italians find themselves as Latino :)

Now the most important issue in our diplomacy is Navarra. This small basque kingdom is under influence of France and we decided to let Bearn to join to our northern neighbour. Of course for some price - France agreed for 25 years NAP.

So, so. It is XVI century and we are thinking only about colonistation. Our spies among Indians gave informations that England builded some colony near Acadie, so we send ships there, but they did not found trace of enemy. However it is not a problem, Spain is not interested in NA ;)

Second concern is economy and technology. It is amazing that Ottomans seems to be better equiped than we are! Evil Saracens! We have to put more gold into our scientists.

In our report we should also mention that all Jews were expeled from Spain. We heard they found new home in some very tolerant country called Poland. Who ever are those Poles they seems to need elits. :) That is why you, your eminence, will move from Vienna to polish capitol and give us full report what is happening there and what are Jews planing with their new friends.

Of course, please keep this document in secret.
