[*]The bonus prestige for winning a war is now 2 * the number of years the war was fought. So long wars yield more prestige.

This is a dangerous rule.

If I would play FRA on Friday this rule would mean I would never go to peace with AUS unless
a) He can force peace
b) I win the war on my own (not very probable)
c) OE rejoins the war and we subsequently win the war

If the France sub reads this post: make sure you do not peace without AUS giving you something (e.g. 25d or MA). Then it is a win.

This war is quite long and getting two times the number of Power points instead of one times it is thus quite important.

It's prestige first of all, and I really hope situations like this won't happen, as it requires the cooperation of two players. Decisions about these will really have to be left up to KJ as he's the one in game, but I hope people won't abuse the system.

In a real legitimate war, the economic damage that one or both parties might sustain may not be worth the extra prestige you'll get.

But if people can't police themselves, well I'll have no choice but to yank the rule. But I trust that everyone will follow the spirit of the game.

Aha, I misunderstood, it's prestige not power, well then it is not as important. OK. :)

But what you then wrote is so contradictic to my basic attitude that I must write a few lines.

---------------

"ABUSE"

I will abuse every rule there is. I always play like that and have done all my life. So help me God

I intently use the word "abuse" here because you failed to define it. In a game I would never do anything that I myself would consider "abusive". But to take advantage of leaks in the legal environment is not abusive per se in my world. The normal characterisation is quite the opposite: it is smart play. Just that: an intelligent adapation to the rules.

It is probably quite difficult for me to construct a situation where I would call a within-the-rules-action abusive. Feel free to make an example in case you want to test my style.

Another positive side effect of my attitude is that it encourages people to actually read and understand the rules. And further it will speed up the time needed to making the rules really good. In fact I am close to the ideal beta tester since I love to look for bugs and legal leaks that I can take advantage of.

"SPIRIT OF THE GAME"

Concerning the spirit of the game I do not know about anything special. This is another vague concept you present. If I were you I would refrain from using vague concepts when you are discussing how people should act.

For me the spirit of the game (any game) is twofold
1. that everyone does his best within the rules to "win" in this (and coming) games, "win" in this case = making his nation as grand/big/prosperous as possible
2. and that he is nice to his fellow gamers

In that order. Incidentally it is just about the attitude I have in my professional life as well. :)

RL

I would like to add that any references to what would happen in RL I will take no notice off. I do not take part in such silliness, where those with stronger attachment to this RL/RP aspect will be losers vs those with lesser. It is simply contrary to my number 1 spirit of the game principle.

I would like to stress the fact that there is no mentioning on page 1 of "RL" aspects. I would never have joined this game in the first place if I had to adhere to such restrictions on my playing style. I have declined to take part in such games (RL - RP) before. Thus I believe it is entirely wrong to introduce such aspects in the middle of a campaign.

Some further changes.

+.5 power / year of war (remember: NO FAKE WARS)
+1 power for victory, regardless of peace terms. Victory is defined as taking something. White peace is never a victory.
+1 power / province taken

Navies are now weighted as follows:

Total Shock Value + Total Fire Value + Total Mobility where galleys are worth 1/4 of warships where mobility is. Note that total shock value and total fire value are dependent on your tech level...

A couple of notes. Please check yours for errors, particularly in the peace resolutions. And I know already that if you fought Austria (host AFAIK), and a peace was resolved, it won't correctly track the results of the peace.

RE : Spending power points. Do not round up. . The reason I kept the decimal crap was so people wouldn't lose credit for warring between sessions. So spend what you have and no more, please!

[*] Deflation (4 / (max(mayor coverage, .1) + infra level / 50) . So for example, if you're at .2 mayor coverage and infra 6, a point of deflation would cost you (4 / (.2 + .12) ) = 12.5 points. If you have .25 mayor coverage and you're at infra 10, a point of deflation would cost you (4 / (.25 + .2) = 8.88 points. If you're at infra 1 and have no mayors, deflation will cost you (4 / (.1 + .1)) = 20 points. Note that all points here will be rounded up to the nearest quarter point. So if it would cost you 12.1234 to do something, it will actually cost you 12.25, etc.

It is rather not complicated math  but I had some difficulties with understanding it...

Infra level 5

Maximum deflation per year -0,245

4 : [0,245 + (5 : 50)] = 4 : [0,245 + 0,1] = 4 : 0,345 = 11,594

so 11,75 per -1% deflation

and 1,5% deflation will cost 11,75 x 1,5 = 17,6 prestige

Am I correct?

1. Zeit, did all who got an AAR reward last week really write an AAR?

2. You write "Victory is defined as taking something." I would suggest a further clarification of this. Are you referring to money and/or provinces alone? If so write that. How about MA or forceconversion e.g.? Or something not included in the peace window such as a NAP or "stay out of North America" etc.
