I've also made some changes to the prestige costs. Most notably, the costs for refineries/goods manus have gone up and the incremental increase has also gone up significantly. So now costs are 5, 12, 19, 26, and so on... this should help to prevent a proliferation of these types of manufactories, even with large prestige, and hopefully keep the focus on other things. I increased fine arts academies as well, but not as much since they tend to be ignored.

The multiplicative modifier for claiming a culture was also reduced from 5 to 4 to make it a bit easier. Big cultures like Italian or German however will still be extremely difficult for anyone to claim unless they control all its provinces.

I'm also thinking about making a "slander" option whereby someone could expend some prestige (say 20) to hurt another player's saved prestige (say half). This would not apply to prestige gained from the last session, but any of it carried over from the session before. That at least introduces a risk factor in hoarding prestige, and encourages players to spend at least some of their points.

I always prefere 1453 more than 1492. Poland need time to reduce aristocracy and up centralization before XVI century or it will die.

But of course if you will agree to edit my sliders by +2 centra and -2 arist, I will vote 1492 too :)

I played Spain few times, but I found this country rather boring. However if you will not find anyone I will take them.

But of course if Austria and Spain will be filled I am taking Poland :)

Okay guys, let's plan on starting tonight @ 22:30 CET. HAL, you'll be Spain as I'm afraid, I haven't found anyone new.

I don't think we have an Austria yet so unless I have a sub, Portugal is going to move there. It's very important that it be played.

That's all guys. I'll load up the scenario and make the necessary changes after my class today. We have a tie between 1453 and 1492, so unless someone breaks it in the next couple hours it's going to be a 1492 start.

If you would please confirm you'll be there tonight, I'd appreciate it, as it would give me an idea what to expect. Also, please post your ICQ#s. Mine is 339-937-575, feel free to add me and discuss anything.

If by some chance we do get extras, I would like to have someone play Poland and then the Netherlands.

I won't force emergence of the Netherlands in my capacity as a GM, but I will do my utmost as France if we have a player for it.

Great session. Thanks to everyone for showing up and everything ran well (after the scenario editing problems were fixed finally -- thanks John).

I'd also like to take the opportunity to remind everyone that writing an AAR will net them one power and one prestige. So do it!

I'll do the tallies for this session shortly. I'm also thinking of amending the rules to give a power point for a victorious war, as, for example, the present rules wouldn't give England and Austria something even though they won the war against me.
