Well, you can always play as one of the Native American nations, which becomes quite challenging when the Europeans arrive.
There isn't many other strategy games out there giving you a more challenging AI then EU3.
Statements like these make me wonder whether we really play the same game. I love EU3 but the AI is bad in so many ways that it needs an incredible amount of help to just not basically kill itself all the time.
I see some comments stating that EU3 isn't as deep as some other strategy games. If that's the case, which games are deeper? Im not familiar with any of the other Paradox games at all.
Ditto. If you like a lot of detail (minutiae?), some of the more complicated titles might be for you, but in terms of strategic depth, EU3 is as good as anything else out there (Paradox or no). Frankly, I prefer a certain elegance and minimalism in my games. Mind you, it's all relative - all of these games are widely perceived as having a pretty stiff learning curve. Actually CK2 is probably the easiest, if you're just starting out (though it does lack a certain depth, IMHO), but if you've played HOI3, it shouldn't take too long to get used to the EU3 mechanics (less of a pure war game, though). They are probably referring to Hearts of Iron III and Victoria II even though in my opinion that is more of a case of mixing up complex with complicated. Get EU3. Best stuff.![]()
First of all, what paradox games do you have, if any? If you have some, then that should help ease the learning wall.
The AI in this game is much better than, say, the TW series. I usually tire of a game in a month or so, but in the two months or so I have had this game, I have never come close to tiring of it. This game is worth every penny.
I would definitely recommend the expansions, as they improve the game exponentially and deal with bugs.
