I recommend playing with EU2 alone first and with an easy country like France in 1492 before trying any mod. Better learn game mechanisms first and increase difficulty (and realism) later.

well Ive played a lot of the Italian States... Whats been happening in my current game with the Papal states in Grand Campaign is that I join a Military Allian with Siena Firenze Duchy of Athens and Modena... They go to war against Byzatine I dont help in that war I upgrade all my Bailiffs and build up my army... I usually go to war with Naples then take both there Territories make Peace annex the most southern Provence of Appollina and make him my Vassal and Military Access plus some gold... I use the war with Byzantium to raise war taxes and I had to cut some of my expense to make some more cash... But I always seem to be losing money and get get to far in the game. Cants build Manufactures... I cant grow since of my Military Alliance which Modena left after Naples... Now my military alliance all have Cassus Bellis against me since I make a solo peace with Naples... I really wanted to annex all of Naples but I couldn't figure out... How do I do that?? Now the Northern Part Of Italy is about to get really messed up and Modena the one Nation who I wanted to get since they left the Military alliance has nearly 30k troops to my 25k.... I'm having problems with the fighting sometimes I have way more infantry and calvary and my droops morale just gets owned... That have to do with land tech or something? Anyhow any adivce for the Italian States? Trading wise I automate it since I havent learned to much about that sphere yet and diplomatically wise I usually have Honorable or respectable relations Until I invade someone then it goes back Up? Ive been doing Royal Marriages and some of those Relation improvers that cost cash.. Any suggestions or advice?

You can only annex countries with only one province except pagan countries. In order to annex a country, you have to make a separate peace with it. Click on your shield in the peace screen.

Maintaining big armies is very costly and even more if you are over the maintenance limit.

Check if your opponents have leaders in their armies. Many things can have influence on morale. Check the EU2 FAQ.
