Thinking About Buying It

Im thinking about buying this version since EUIII doesnt work on my comp... Is it just as fun as EUIII? What are some of the differences and what can I expect from buying this game.

It's like eu3, but better looking and it's actually historical, especially with mods like EP. Also, the lower system requirements make it run super fast on most computers.

Different countries and loads of mods mean huge replay value. I can't fairly compare it to EU III since I don't have that, but it really is worth buying. And since its an "older title" its not that expensive. I think somebody in another thread said $15 in the U.S.

I got EU1 for a dollar when EU2 came out.

great finally finishes downloading and I have a problem... as usual...


When I go to get install after downloading the thing I get this message: (I would show you a picture but I guess I can attach files)

This is from the gamers gate downloader. I just payed 15$ I hope I can play this game.

EU2 is of course completely untested under Vista, but I think your issue is to do with .NET. Check with MS for updates, if you can't get anywhere try the Gamer's Gate help forum http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=332 , as it's an installation issue not an EU2 issue.

Tech Support isn't helping at all... This might be awhile before I can get to play this game... If ever

Gavin: This is a bit of a longshot, but try this. (Note I don't have Vista, so I might be completely coming from left field.)

When you're at the file you downloaded, right click. Do you see an option that says "Compatibility" or something like that?

If so, pick Windows XP or earlier. Now see if it'll load.

Otherwise....keep harassing Tech Support and Gamers Gate. You paid for it, they either have to help you get it running or give you your money back.

I got EU1 for a dollar when EU2 came out.

That is exactly how i got it too! I then lost about 2 months of my life and then got EU2 and lost 2 years

Did you upgrade the downloaded version to 1.09? As far as I remember the download would be version 1.08.

But now, since EU2 works on your computer, you should definitively apply EU2 patch 1.09.

You can see EU2 version in the upper left corner when game is loading.
