Who would ever in their right mind choose Arbitrary over Just in CK2? If you've ever offered an event to choose between the two there's no choice. Even for roleplaying reasons, since the events themselves are the moment when the character makes the choice. There's just no incentive.
CK1's traits aren't perfect, but they're a damn sight more interesting than those in CK2.
If is a key word there. Sometimes they gain the trait themselves. That being said, though, I agree that there's way too many purely positive and purely negative traits. It's a little disappointing.
I modded quite a lot:
Love the changes to opinion and some of the traits. Definitely should help the gameplay.

Made several changes to Saxon England.

Duchies of Lancaster and Hereford are now plain Mercia (Lancaster to York, gain Leicester). Duchies of Oxford, Gloucester, and Somerset are now Wessex. Norfolk changed to East Anglia and expanded to Lincoln & Northampton. Removed the entirely fictional (far as I can tell) Estmond. Made Edwin and Morcar each six years younger. Created Lady Godgifu and made her Countess of Leicester and Lincoln. Made the elder children of Harold bastards and gave the two eldest (Godwine and Eadmund) control of the West Country. Changed most Saxon dynasty names to "-ing" instead of "of". Swapped the three lions for St. Edward's arms. Added around thirty given names. Added the female patronymic -dohtor and replaced -son with -ssunu. Placed Hereward in Gyrth's court and gave him a claim to the County of Norfolk. Made Hereward and Eadric the Wild sufficiently OP.

Just trying to figure out how to give Harold a few thousand more men at game's start.

Currently trying to suss out the Holy War CB, and weaken it as much as possible. Considering giving certain Pagan and Muslim dukes 99 martial.

Was thinking about creating a new empire so i could create " The British Empire"
I always love unification decisions in Paradox games. Haven't gotten around to modding it in yet, but it looks pretty easy to do.

Sadly King (Paradox employee) has confirmed that it's Hard-coded to be unplayable for DLC reasons, so my mod probably won't be able to allow you to by default (though people could probably set a pagan character as their main one in a Save-file to let them in, but still, I'd be writing a bunch of events and content for like 3% of people who might download the mod before the DLC comes out?).

I'd still be including the corrections in my mod, though, even if it makes the region even tougher for Christians (especially since it'll start in 1030 after the Battle of Stiklestad and the death of Saint Olaf at the hands of a popular uprising and the transfer of Norwegian authority to Cnut the Great, who - although a convert to Christianity himself - basically let who-ever was loyal to him rule).

Ah, that's disappointing. :(

I'll still keep an eye on the forums for anything with your name on it. Even if we can't have *playable* Pagans until their DLC (which we can only hope they release), I can still watch the Christians stumble and have to work really hard if they want Sweden. That would make for an exciting time. :)

Oh they will just in shorter time spans. ;) Nothing changes as far as centuries and generations and time span goes. :)

Of course something changes. Like the fact that you can do much more with you current ruler rather than have to wait for the next (maybe horrible one, who couldn't change anything). I'm not criticizing your prefrences, but as someone said, would make things too easy (for me at least).

I'd like to some way to bail out family members that are in jail. I was King of Wales, and my son was count of Nantes and Cournouaille (from his mother), and married to the countess of Penthievre. As such, he was not my vassal, but in two generations I could've had half of Brittany. But of course the idiot goes crusading in Algerie and gets locked up, and sooner killed. He dies without any sons, and all the sons of my current King is dead aswell. Looks like my youngest brother will inherit now... on the good side, he's married to the Franch Kings sister (and heir, but the King's still a minor). But I'd still preferred to bail out my oldest son.

In that case why don't you mod those figures to TRIPLE what they are now since you an a SELECT FEW want HARDER games. But, it is my preference and as long as "I" am enjoying it that's all that matters right? ;) I am enjoying it also because a lot more things are happening now instead of tapping my fingers on my desk for 10 minutes waiting for something to happen or something I can change. :) As far as I see nothing has become easier just more interesting and challenging.

Being able to play Pagan or Muslim characters, is by far my biggest peeve with this otherwise great game.
In my eyes it basically takes away half the game. I always loved playing the oddball nations in EU3 and V2, and i just took for granted that it would be allowed in CK2 as well.
Because, it's Paradox. Guess I was wrong..

Please tell me this can be modded.. Or are there some underlying mechanics that are utterly non-existant for players to play as such nations? (like wrong events or stuff?)

Being able to take specific provinces/titles from neighboring groups at a cost of gold if other pre-existing conditions aren't met. (Basically I find it a odd to be able to declare a holy war without being able to seize the other religion's territory). Including vassals of other nations possibly an additional cost being able to be attacked if you have a minimum prestige/piety.

Also being able to speed up research by throwing money at it like in EU3. Possibly a plot type decision could have one double the rate of research for a large sum of money. (Possibly a temporary tax modifier drop (like 10-20% for a year or two for a 10 year investment, however it'd be balanced), I just haven't gotten too into the modding of CK series before, XD.

Adding another thing: removing that stupid "Desires <county/duchy>" opinion. It should be for ambitious characters only, and shouldn't activate the instant you give them a county/duchy linked to the one in question. It feels remarkably weird, too, to have, say, the French king give you the Duchy of Murcia... only to then desire it back the next day, all while giving you no lands in Murcia either ._.

does anyone here who modded in female council jobs experience them never triggering any events? seems like a bug, since all my female councils have gone on for 10 years now without any events, might just be bad luck i guess.

Im playing on balance mod so most of the things are good right now, but before that I modded the relation bonus for same dynasty to +15 instead +5 on vanilla. Also decreased levy replenish rate.
Dont know if this is possible but would like to see a mod where battles are more random (martial stat matter more, flanking matter more etc.) so actually sometimes smaller army could beat bigger army (woah!).

Not quite. You also need to go into each job event file and remove the female=no from the triggers if you want them to actually do anything. Otherwise events won't fire for female council members in most cases.

I'm having this problem. The job event files don't seem to contain the word "female" at all. Which file exactly do you mean, or how do I fix it?
