The first thing I did for Playing-the-game purposes (as opposed to preparing "Terra Normannorum") was to correct the religion in Sweden at 1066 since it's basically just set up the way it is for balance-purposes so they'll have somewhat even chances of success. Screw that, because they didn't. The South-West won through sneaky dishonourable mass-murder (burning their enemy's family and hirdmen to death in the night), not through facing the Elected King (to replace the despised Christian zealot) in the field or man-to-man.

Småland, for example, was such a majority-Ásatrú province that it had a crusade led against it in the 1123 by the King of Norway to cleanse the region of their resistance to missionaries. Several of the northern and eastern provinces are also still definitely majority Ásatrú (although I made Gästrikland Catholic).

I might have to find some way in Terra Normannorum to create a Plot specifically for the Quickfires mostly by Christians during this period against other rulers with highly limited availability (If powerful enough triggering a one-time event for you that might kill your opponent and win the war, but still with the possibility of breaking through with his Hirdmen and maiming you in the attempt). Possibly even exclusive to that conflict.

This I'd like to see, and I'd download your work. :) That's what I thought...when I first looked at Sweden on this game, I sorta scratched my head. I'd thought it was still overwhelmingly Asatru...I mean, Uppsala couldn't be fully subverted by Christianity until after 1200, right? I'd love to see the dominance of Norse Paganism better represented in some mod. :) (Not to mention being able to *play* as a Norse Pagan leader........)

Is it possible to gain independence from your country and rule your own country? For example, be the count of Iceland gain independence from your duke then the King of Norway are you able to have your own country after that? If not that would be a good mod

Added history to the Kingdom of England (which also gives little Edgar the Aetheling a nice family tree :)). I also removed the connection between Eadward and Edward, so if the Normans conquer England they won't be known as Edward IV, but instead Edward I :).

Sadly King (Paradox employee) has confirmed that it's Hard-coded to be unplayable for DLC reasons, so my mod probably won't be able to allow you to by default (though people could probably set a pagan character as their main one in a Save-file to let them in, but still, I'd be writing a bunch of events and content for like 3% of people who might download the mod before the DLC comes out?).

I'd still be including the corrections in my mod, though, even if it makes the region even tougher for Christians (especially since it'll start in 1030 after the Battle of Stiklestad and the death of Saint Olaf at the hands of a popular uprising and the transfer of Norwegian authority to Cnut the Great, who - although a convert to Christianity himself - basically let who-ever was loyal to him rule).

Did some of those as well.
Plus I'm planing to lower some of the prices for buildings. The balance strikes me at slightly odd in some places, but I obviously have to play a really long game yet so I'll wait until I do something like that.

Call me stupid, but I have no idea how to change that. Could you point me to the file in question?

Also, I'm pretty sure women can be Spymasters already. Or at least your wife can.

just your wife and mom and I think grandmother vanilla can be spymasters.

Anyways in the Common folder you'll want to look for a job_titles file (be sure and copy this and place it somewheres else as when there are patches you'll need the origional files in place). In the job_titles file are the listing for each council member from chancellor down to priest. In each of those catagories you'll see the script line : is_female = no (just delete that line in each councilor group that you want to be able to be played by a female). The spymaster grouping you'll need to delete

all of this : OR = {
is_female = no
liege = { mother = { character = FROM } }
liege = { spouse = { character = FROM } }
}

so once again a male or a female can hold that office. If you just put "yes" after female = then only females can hold those offices so if you want it open to all just delete those scripts I mentioned.

Along those same lines, is it possible to allow women to be gifted landed titles without giving them true cognatic inheritance?

1st thing I did was go into the localisation files and change byzantine empire to 'the Roman Empire' and insert 'the' in 'Holy Roman Empire (had done that in the demo)

I tracked down the dynasty with the closest approximation of my last name, assigned myself a character ID, and bestowed upon myself a county.

I wonder if there's way to make the AI a little smarter when handing out titles. Yes, my Kaiser, thank you for the Duchy of Beneveto. No, my Kaiser, you can't have it back again, even if you "desire" it.
