I understand that it is difficult to program a competitive AI and to be honest Paradox hasn´t done the best job in this topic in HOI IV so far. But what realy bothers me is that they mark some of the most common and annoying bugs in the patch notes as solved and in fact nothing has changed. Some examples:

- AI still buys 99 % light tanks instead of medium tanks or heavy tanks
- AI furthermore creates dozens of variants for i.e. light tanks
-> resulting in great loss of production efficiency
- AI still doesn´t know when and where to attack
-> resulting in grinding down manpower and equipment in the alps, Maginot or places like that
- AI using larger templates

these are just few examples that were marked as solved and this is just, let´s face it: "fake patch notes"

to be honest I gave up hope that this game could become a challenging WW2 game one day

Innterms of comparing the AI to a human, yes the AI is so bad at everything.
But the AI compared to todays standard high complexity RTS it is not so bad.
Programming an AI that adapts to a constantly changing enviornment is a challenging task.

Yes, the AI is still a toaster but only compared to human players.
If you want to have a challenge, play HoI serious/competitive MP and you will have a ton of challenges to break.

You shouldn't have to play multiplayer to enjoy a mostly single player game.

i did not compare it to a human. the main point is the fact that paradox is simply lying in its dev diaries and patch notes
When it comes to the AI yes they have not been truthful since Day 1 and it's just been an area of the game that's been neglected ever since, it's why me and others have eventually stopped playing this combined with the year long wait for expansion packs. Kind of given in to the idea that the AI isn't ever going to become competent in this game which is a shame because the rest of the game is great.
