I agree with you about the Taoists not having holy wars, but what do you have against holy wars in general?

I don't care for Holy Wars either; they give much too great a reward for much too small a risk. Further, the parameters for being able to declare them should be more strict, akin to how reformed Pagans need 100 piety to declare theirs. Right now, there's nothing to stop a powerful Muslim ruler - player or AI - from sweeping over a tremendous area in a short span of time.

Welcome to Islam, it took them about 150 years to take every Islamic region you see in the 769 start.

Not gonna dispute that, but given the other powerful CBs that Islam already has - Invasion and Conquest - giving them Holy War as well feels like adding insult to injury.

I quite like the toned-down Buddhist version of Holy War. My issue is that taking an entire duchy and all the titles within promotes the worst kind of blobbing - the kind that wipes religions and cultures off the map, rather than being a temporary shift in control.

Some of the characteristics of the Confucian government are interesting- religious tolerance, restrictions on revocation and imprisonment, compartmentalized tyranny maluses, etc. Were these traits things that were already available to modders, or are they new additions? It seems like even if PDS has decided to leave China off the map, they're giving modders some good new assets to work with.

Also, it seems that Monastic Feudal boils down to iqta, but without duchy revocation or Turkish succession.

All of these has already available. Nonetheless, government type is a nonsensical place to put in those modifier.

Something else to notice in these pictures is what looks like a new combat trait, if I'm not mistaken. Not sure what it's supposed to represent, though.

The stream also mention new raiding adventurer interactions. I wonder will that include buying peace/truces since that is now possible with the emperor.

haven't seen the stream. Is the confucian bureaucratic unplayable because it was shown on Western Protectorate, or did they explicitly say that this government is unplayable as a whole for some specific reasons?

Both, tough they didn't gave any particular reason other than it's the protectorates government.

I mean, presumably it's a government that's only used for the Protectorate, so the two are functionally equivalent. The Tibetans are Monastic Feudal, and everyone else is what they've always been. Unlike religion, there's no way to switch to that government (which is why they put most of those modifiers under government, and left Taoism fairly straightforward and playable for all your conversion wackiness).

If you want to use it you'll have to mod the game anyway to allow someone else to start with it, so you can also easily mod it to be playable while you're at it.

well, Some governments are not so easily moddable to be playable. A certain two catagories of governments cant even be modded to be playable, as I recall. -Pet issue ahoy-

Sure, but all the modifiers are already available, so even if they wall it off that way, you can just create a new government type, copy-paste that section of the file, and voila, you have "Konfucian Bureaucracy" with all the same features. You can probably even create an equivalent now, if your modding chops are good enough.
