Well age 19 won't help much. I've had several continue until mid twentities.

If you want it not to have them when they are being educated, just put it so it won't fire while they're being educated instead of trying to beat around the bush and maybe still end up causing problems.

Okay, but what file to mod?

Crusader_events.txt is the file you're looking for, in /db/events . Search for "Ruler must decide how to deal with heathens" and that should leap you to the correct section. Then just add the code as Byak suggested and all should be well. ;)

Thank you Woz.

I think most logical improvements to it are requiring age 16, as torturing and killing children is somewhat distasteful and for mentioned reason of pending conversion, not make it fire for people with ecclestical education.

Logically the conversion should happen when they are given the education, not when they finish it. If you send a kid off to catholic school, he doesn't then come back from muslim school. You are making the decision when you educate him what religion he will have. It doesn't suddenly happen because you get someone from a muslim court just as he's about to graduate.

Aside from being distasteful, it's just really difficult to imagine anyone delivering a "convert to Catholicism or DIE!" ultimatum to a three-year-old. What does it actually mean to be a muslim at that age?

I actually tortured a baby to make him convert to the one true Catholic and apostolic Church, under the age of 1 he was.

He died, but he died a Catholic baby.

I agree that it is completely illogical to execute heathen children while they are receiving a christian religious education.

I would also suggest that it would be logical to create an event that would allow heathen (and possibly schismatic) children who are receiving other educations to swap to an ecclesiastical one, and for adults who are receiving a court appointment (or possibly when they're first admitted to court at all) or getting married to be baptised.

Really it is only logical to get the Pope involved after they refuse to convert -- but this should necessitate that they should have at least been given an opportunity to convert first!

After all, it'd get the Diocese Bishop something to do rather than just sit there looking pretty. ;)

Actually the 1-3 year olds would have probably been 'adopted' by the church and the parents killed. Is that preferable?

This....squeamishness is a modern tone. If you don't think the Inquisition went after children, you're mistaken. Below a certain age they may have been force converted. (Congrats, you're a Christian now. You'll be staying at the church til we're sure the devilish influences are out of your system.) Once these children realized what it meant to be a Muslim/Jew, etc. then yes, the Chruch would have most certainly tried to force it out of them.

I say remove this age trigger. If there's a trigger not to fire for those in ecclesiastical education, THAT makes sense ... though even then I could see the Church deciding someone just wasn't 'getting' their lessons and put them to the sword rather than have them grow up with a corrupted soul. In my book, the event is harsh but WAD.

I think you'll find that wasn't the case, the Christians often had Muslims subjects and even Jewish ones and though they were discriminated against, it usually fell short of force conversion. The Inquisition was mostly after heritics, people like the Lollards and Hussites, indeed the Inquisition only existed at the end of the CK era I think when these types were a problem .
