I would love to be able to play well into the 19th C, but, I'm not really interested in 100-year-long scenarios. I like looooooong GCs. I don't think I'm alone on that either. I have a feeling that way more people would play AON if it were possible to continue from an AGC or EEP game. The obvious problem...nation tags, of course. There aren't enough to represent the full richness of AON while keeping the original EUII nations. That's why there should be two AONs, selectable through moddir:

1) AON Rich

The AON as it stands now.

2) AON Light

All the AON monarchs & events for countries that exist in EEP/AGC/EUII, plus a few extra nations to help install some of the flavour of the AON period (CSA & Bolivia come to mind). Nations like the Duchy of Warsaw and Austria-Hungary would use their nearest equivalents (like Poland and Austria) and native nations would become modern ones (e.g. Inca becomes Peru) through clever use of text.csv and country.csv in moddir. Would this be as good as AON Rich? Obviously not, but it would give a whole new audience the chance to experience AON, and it would make people like me REALLY happy.

AoN is a scenario like "Age of Enlightenment" or whatever, not a Grand Campaign. To play past 1820 just use the unlimited time patch. It'l be alot of hard effort to split it in 2, seen as AoN isnt even finished yet. Maybe if/when AoN is finished, it could be decided. I like the idea in principle, but thats about it. Maybe you could persuade EEP or AGC to create events/monarchs later and to implement the patch.

I know. That's what I'm asking for, a second version of AON which can be played as a continuation of a GC.

I would, but AON is very, very good. I can't think of any good reason for ignoring AON and duplicating all the work. I'd prefer to just adapt AON. My only worry is that AON people will object on the grounds that an adapted version of AON will obviously not be as good as the original.

I've only played the GC the full way through a couple times. I doubt there's much demand for extending the GC through the end of AoN. Hell, I probably wouldn't even bother playing such a scenario even if someone went through all the trouble to create it.

I agree with Loseth: It could be nice to play a really long game from 1419-1914 or 1617-1914 or whatever you like. But there is too many changes in AON to directly combine the two - that's why I posted a thread about creating a new mod in the main scenario forum, but no-one wanted to participate...:(
Apparantly few of us like the idea (sadly), and i think most players (like Ramo) propably wont play that long a game anyway. My point is, that it is understandable why the AON team don't want to bother making such a "light " mod.

To the creators of AoN:
Would you guys mind if someone else where to make such a "light AoN" stretching from 1419-1914 and using/modifying some of your graphics, events, monarchs and leaders (of course, you would be credited)?

Sounds good. Is your permission enough, or should I ask others as well? I'm already on the project, and I want to be sure I don't upset anyoneby using their events and stuff.

First a little warning. It's more or less impossible to expand the original GC, of many reasons. First, there aren't near enough tags and secondly too many gameplay issues are changed in the AoN.

But if you do want to try, I don't mind either. :)

Thanx!:D

Here's my concept:
I know that there are not enough tags for all your AoN countries. That's why I am concentrating on Europe and America. I'll post a list of the countries I have currently included.

As to all your other changes, such as your new cultures, new trade goods and text changes (like RM-->Vote of neutrality), I haven't included any of these - just graphics, most of the events (I won't use all of them, and I have changed some - if you want my full explanation, just say so and I'll post it), monarchs and leaders. Oh, and off course the unlimited patch.

I have also made some events by myself (mostly for the "original" period, 1419-1820) as well as changed some of Paradox's events (eg. the Spain event that gives Malta to the Knights). I have also made a few country changes for the GC (added Holland, Bologna and Ancona), and I have permission to use MKJ and the AGC teams' AI mod and Holland events.

I have made changes to most of the scenarios, which I have given new names in order to not overwrite anything (eg. Grand Campaign--->End of The Hundred Years War).

Oh, almost forgot: I have changed prices for goods, revolts.txt and a few other files in the DB folder. I hope I haven't forgotten anything else...:D

Btw, I'll call the mod "Age of Imperialism", which is another name for the AoN period.

Any other free tags? (I am aware of SPR, but don't know how to use this tag:rolleyes: ) Otherwise, I guess I'll just have to remove some of the less important native countries. Like Dakota!

Please note that 40-50 countries are redefined. For example Venice doesn't exist no more... Check the TAGs thread.

I know that, that's why I have changed all the tags (except Uruguay), which was actually a lot of work. Especially because I also have to change event tags! Are you, btw aware of the fact, that many of your events actually doesn't have an event text in text.csv? I have had to either remove the events or write my own texts for them.

If you look at my country list, you will also notice that the only ingame country I have removed is Flandern (which was not a starter in any scenario). Therefore, I have not removed any used countries (like Venice). I am, however out of free tags to use now... so I'll have to slash some native American/African/Indian minors if I want more countries included (and I kinda do... ).

The country tags is in fact the biggest problem when implementing your mod, and that's why I have only used the countries that I find most important (with focus on Europe & America). That's also why I won't be able to make my mod as all inclusive as AoN - which was never intended. My main goal is to create a grand grand (and improved, I think:) ) campaign.

The 1820-1914 part of my mod is the most important feature, but not the only one. I have also made changes to some of the other campaigns (like the GC). Originally, I only wanted to work with the AoN period, but after changing Savoy to Sardinia in 1700, 1773 and 1795 I kinda got the taste for more alterations before 1820...:D

I find your project interesting, Hive, but I also find it impossible, therefore I won't be able to help you

That's okay - you have already helped me by your work with AoN!:D

Btw, I know that my post got a bit long - sorry...

A few news (if anyone should be interested:rolleyes:):

I have decided to let my AoI campaign start in 1816, just after the Congress of Vienna. A part from this brand new campaign (but much similar to th AoN campaign for some strange reason:p ), I'll include the Grand Campaign (I need a new cool name for it though) and the Age of Revolutions or Age of Enlightment (think I'll go with the first).

Btw, it's a shame that the AoN guys have quit their project... but cheers to them for the great work they have done! (applause):D

Yep! Dakota, Creek, Xhosa and natives like that will definately go o when I need some freed tags. As I see it, I could use these freed tags for two things:
1. Include more countries from AoN (like the Asian and African countries I have not included - Zanzibar, Nepal and such)
2. Save them for my next project: a Hundred Years War scenario starting in 1337.

I think I'll go with the latter!;)

I could always use help. Do you have any events scipting/scenario creating experience? Or do you have a suffecient knowledge about a specific country/period in history that could make up for some cool events (or corrections to already existing events that are not good)?

And yes, it's hard...:D

Just some portuguese events... (not the same thing, but I make some programs at work, so programming is ok for me)

But I think myself like a selfmade man when it is needed, so if you drop the dices I'll tell you if I can or not...
