Aside from the ingame one. What is the point of having a friend list if you can only chat with game participants? The only use of the firend list at the moment seem to be sending random invites when creating a game.
Please, consider implementing a chat in the menus, for the PC version atleast.
It doesnt have to be a chatbox. Maybe just an option to click a friend in the list and send a line, that then drops down as a notification on top of his/her screen.
Or, if there was any way to see Steam-profile by inspecting other players, this wouldnt be so urgent, since you could use Steam for chatting.
