Hey everyone , and welcome to our AAR ^^ I wish to announce that we'll be doing a co-AAR with my friend from netherlands, Grubnessul, and myself, kfijatass from poland.
Kfijatass VERSUS Grubnessul

It will not be a usual AAR. Let me tell you how it'll work.

Me, I shall play Milan. Grubby will play Brandenburg. The objective is to unify our culture's country as fast as it's possible. So for Brandenburg it shall be Germany, and for me, Italy. This will be a fair match , as both of these countries have similar incomes.

It will be a sort of a semi-multiplayer. We play Vanilla NA , and we start at the year of 1453. At first , i'm starting, and i play 7 years. After that i post an update and pass the save to Grubby. He'll do 10 years of play, save post an update and pass it to me. Then it shall be me again, this time playing 10 years and doing the whole thing. After that it just goes and goes, giving each other of us 10 years of playing, until one of us are unified. After one of us are unified, we'll see what we can do. We'll either continue or not, depending on the interest.

The in-game rules are all set to Normal.

What about inhouse rules? We did a sort of agreement that -

- We won't do royal marriages (personal unions and inheriting)
- We won't wage war against each other
- If we'll have to wage war against each other, strive for the best peace for both (mostly White Peace) Simply put , do everything not to get destroyed by the other one.
- No cheating, and no taking provinces that are essential to make the unification for each other's countries.

The inhouse rules might change, but they don't have to. It'll depend on what we'll be up against :p as it's quite an innovative way of writing an AAR.

Whether you're only a reader or a serial poster , we welcome both!
Update as soon as it's ready :)

kfijatass's part 1 - the peace and warmongering

Hey guys, and welcome . Now calm down. Good!

As i said before, i'm playing Milan.
I_Bis_717.PNG
WTFOMG!!!

Let's start! Charge!

What do we have here ....
eu326ak7.png
Awesome!!! Although we're in trouble.

I don't like making a lot of pictures about the overall overview. As it's too dull. Either way, what you must know that i set myself completely to government tech for the national idea which is an obvious must for a start, and took those 2 cool guys -
eu332zc9.png

Ok so it's not that bad as it looks... Basically all i done with the so-famous war of lombardy was winning one battle and getting a white peace. Trust me, you wouldn't win it yourself unless your bloody lucky or have 1-3 loans.

Not long after that, the king died and his heir was... well you got to agree - a complete lazyass/moron(no not the cuban colony)/someone really unskilled. Not lucky with the ladies either.
eu335lk9.png

As you might already noticed i started warmongering around ^^ I DoW'ed Mantua, which fortunately was allied with Urbino and Modena.
It wasn't all that hard. Took all my armies to Modena , sieged it successfully and made them my vassal + made them gimme some cookies.
eu336wy5.png

After that there was no real pressure around. Savoy - which was and is my only ally by then, did a great job pushing away Mantua's forces(which were somewhat big, probably they've taken some loans). Meanwhile , i annexed Urbino, and got back and annexed Mantua. Easy pickings ^^
This is a pic of Milan shortly after the war
eu337va4.png

I haven't got enough, so i DoW'ed the later Siena's and Rome's Alliance. It was quiteunfortunate for Sicily and Aragon to join in the war, since they took Romagna and released the precious Avignon. Well, at least i could annex them if a war comes up any other time. And the traitorous tuscany... we'll deal with them when the time comes.
eu338nt2.png

Finally - an event. -1 Stability or +1 stability and +1 decentralization... I rather like the second one, even though it doesn't help in the unification(i had -4 decentralization anyway)
eu339lg7.png

The war , even i had a *CENSORED* Monarch, the war was even easier. Rome had no soldiers at all, the only ones were in Piedmont only to get destroyed by Savoy. Siena had only 2,000 soldiers so it was no problem.
eu340kt0.png

eu341bf4.png
At the very end i got an alliance offer from Sicily (a good future vassal) and i vassalized Savoy.

So lets give it a little summary - The good's and the bad's.

The Good's
Vassalized Savoy
Good alliances - Modena, Savoy, Sicily. Venice shouldn't start fighting this time.
Annexed Urbino, Mantua, vassalized Savoy
Increased my former income which was 3.5 by 5, to a total of about 8.5
Not bad relations (most at about 45 ) with other countries, flat 0 with brandenburg since i annexed Mantua , which is a country they had a royal marriage with.

The Bad's
My reputation is about 16 now.
A chance of losing progress if there will be a war of Milan/Modena/Savoy/Sicily vs Tuscany(traitor)/Venice/Genoa
Aragon took Romagna
Not a real chance to connect Urbino, Siena and later Sicily early, because the thing above, and because Tuscany is a part of the alliance.
A *CENSORED* monarch - slow reputation fall
Apart from the above alliance, the only country i'm able to conquer by force is Switzerland. Maybe i'll wait for them to ally with one country and then attack them?

So what i'll be PROBABLY(if AI doesnt mess things up too much) be doing is waiting for the reputation to fall, diploannex Savoy, vassalize Sicily, look what Switzerland has to offer.

Are you going to be waitig to get the nation event or not?
I suppose we shall wait ^^

Germany seems like it would be harder to unify, reckoning by its larger size...
Yeah... But then again when you get more of them it might go quicker than unifying Italy.

Sounds like an interesting concept. I'll certainly be watching.
Great, have fun following our AAR:)

what do you mean by "unified" though, it doesnt seem quite fair for it to be the event

Hmmm... I like the sound of this.

Deutschland über alles und stuff...

So, welcome to Brandenburg, I start with 7 years of AI disadvantage so I'm in a hurry to make up for it.

So, first let's see what the AI did to my country in the past 7 years. The treasury is not that impressive, but hey, I prefere him (her?) to spent the cash while it's playing. Inflation is at 2%, not sure I'm really happy about that, but we cannot change that now anyway.

It seems that the AI conquered some provinces, which always is a good thing.

The AI hsn't been to kind for me, our first NI is scientific revolution, now I am a big fan of technology but I'd prefered to see bureaucratcy, we'll come back to that later.

Now my advisors... they make me cry.

Two sucking trade tech advisors... I replace them for now with 2 3 star statesmen as my BB is about 15

As I'm at -3 stab, I put all my income into it as I want to declare wars & change my NI in the end.

EU3_11.png

The good thing is that the AI was at war with Hesse, I have occupied their capital and my ally Mecklenburg is sieging their other province, as I won't conquer that in time I offer Hesse a nice peace, which they gladly accept...

EU3_3.png

Time for a new monarch! Man! This guy rock!

EU3_4.png

Hamburg and Lüneburg must have felt lonely being OPM's, I declare war on Hamburg and annex both the same year...

EU3_5.png

Being my fateful ally in the past three wars, I decide to reward them... This should put some coins in my grubby little hands

EU3_6.png

The clock is running, time for another war, this time against Bremen and München, Bremen is annexed right way and München is honoured to become my vassal.

EU3_7.png

EU3_8.png

Having the game pause everytime another country is annexed seems to have payed off, I got some pretty decent advisors now at my court, I'll just pray that the AI doesn't change them for idiots...

EU3_10.png

A final shot of Europe at New year's day... the party must have been pretty good as I get a stab point that day. In the end I decide to switch Scientific revolutions for bureaucracy, again just pray that the AI doesn't mess things up...

EU3_9.png

Austria really makes me cry... They've also got Franken, one province that I'm going to need to form Germany...

Things have gone pretty well upsofar, but I'm afraid of the inevitable conflict with Austria...

Let's see what Kfijatass is up to next...

SirruShan: Glad to be of your service!

Toshan: Thanks :), we expect to have an update atleast every 2 days.

Nice work, hopefully the AI will block Austria from going North and then once you have the majority of Germany you will be able to turn on them.

As for Milan you probably would have had to fight the Aragonese anyway might as well bring them on now.

Hey fellas, im BACK! *big applause*
...to bring you the second part of this great AAR *oooooooooo!!!*

Part Twooooooooooooooooo !
THIS was a time of peace! some really odd time in EU3 where particularly almost nothings happening!

It was finally time to slurp some vassals!

The papal state pope : But this is Rome, the country of the papal state, and you wish to annex it!!? This is madness!
Me :
thisismilaan.jpg
eu348nf7.png
Sicily noticed their king made a writing mistake!
eu349cx0.png
So he corrected it.
But wz0mg ? Tuscany wants to join in as well :D Yay!
eu351kg3.png
This means good news :)
In the peace time all i did with my diplomats was sending royal marriage proposals all around the world. This event so to speak was quite the most dreamy event i could ever think of:) A personal union with my national country is something i MUST take care of:)
eu352hb9.png
And so, lithuania and Poland became my precious allies. The bad news is i'm in war with Hungary.

eu353au8.png
And some other nubs.
eu355js7.png
I also helped Poland in warmongering... so they'll have some recompensation for the lost Ruthenia to Austria.
eu356li6.png
I lack one screenshot of the peace result with Hungary. You might noticed already it was quite big earlier on. But lucky for me, unlucky for brandenburg(soon) they took Hungary by force, leaving them only 3 provinces and much like no army, leaving them 3 provinces. I took 2 of them + vassalized them + 50 ducats, BUT austria got in war with them again.... and they got annexed. Oh well, its always the 2 provinces ^^
And ah, how useful. A core. I had good relations with Aragon so why not use it...
eu359cs0.png

And at the very end, i finally managed (tried that like 3 times ) to diploannex Savoy , Yay for Milan!
eu360hb5.png

I shall end today's AAR with the following map.
eu362cp2.png

Basically my inflations 1.7 , reputations about 8. Relations with Brandenburg is -40 ... Could be worse. My allies are -
Sicily(vassal)
Poland,
Lithuania
Cyprus(not yet but AI always allies with their vassals)

Future Allies? Most probable?
Aragon, 70 relations
Austria 80 relations (then trying to vassalize them like crazy)
England? Far but still, about 65 relations

Future enemies?
VENICE!!! and GENOA!!! a MUST!
France... they got a core on Milan.
Ottoman Empire? Might be tough.
Austria - They tend to change minds quickly
Technology? Most are ALMOST 1, while i got 7 universities which is +35 each month (Yeah so evil , huh?) If i get Romagna i'll have a total of 8 universities.

Current tasks
Workshopping Milan
Unifying all of Italy(beating venice and genoa + the thing below)
diploannexing Sicily, Cyprus
*optionally* vassalize and diploannex Poland + Lithuania

Yeah, thinking between conquering and diploannexing. We hope Austria won't get TOO big... :(

Episode 2

Here I am again, my appologies for the late update, but university is trying to kill me atm it seems.

So let's start again with a quick look what the AI did in the past 10 years.

EU3_1.png

The good thing is that it diploannexed all of my vassals, good for my income and territories. It seems that I'm at war with Lorraine, without Burgundy(!), not that bad. Let's also have a look at my court...

EU3_2-1.png

Advisors suck, but my monarch is good for THE objective of this turn, vassalizing Saxony. But first we'll have to end the war with Lorraine. Which is pretty easy...

EU3_3-1.png

I end it with granting some territories to my faithful ally Saxony, take Metz for myself and vassalising Lorraine. So, we've taken care of that little nuisance. Time for wedding parties and gifts in the direction of Dresden... It seems Santa is early this year! And he grants my dearest wish...

EU3_4-1.png

Henrich III won't enjoy this for a long time, for the next morning he's dead.

EU3_5-1.png

His successor isn't that bad, le roi est mort, vive le roi! Now it's time for a little war again, Denmark looks good. A few weeks later, their little ally, Gelre, is now my vassal...

Time to change the sliders! One point in the direction of centralisation (more income and to speed up the nation event). Maybe not the smartest move during a war, but I need to become more centralised asap.

Denmark proves a little to strong, I decide to end the war for now due manpower shortage, maybe declaring the war wasn't the brighest thing to do...

EU3_9-1.png

Again Santa seems to think that I've been a good boy:

EU3_6-1.png

Being a king seems to be a stressful job, as Johan Siegmund I decides to die... and is succeeded by king "me smash, you die" Albrecht IV Achilles.

EU3_10-1.png

The next few years are pretty boring, not much to do except waiting for my tech level to increase...

EU3_11-1.png

and use all tax money and my gift from a few years back to build workshops!

All good things come to an end, but once Santa brings me something nice this year, a 6 stars philosopher (I think he was from a vassal of France before), to bad it's december 25th 1489 so I won't see the great advisor event myself (now pray the AI doesn't waste it...)

And a final screenshot as overview of Europe, January first, 1490...

EU3_12.png

Austria is still a big white blob, but I'm much stronger now than I was, still I don't look forward to the day I'll need to confront it... My hopes are on the AI for diploannexing Saxony and not screwing me up to bad (and please, please, please don't waste my money again on cogs...)

That was it again, kfijatass' update should be coming soon
