Just a note, try to ally Muscovy instead of Poland (if you were planning on allying any of them anyway) because the Polyaks tend to go domineering on Theodoro.

Did you ally Trebizond and Byzantium right off the bat to deter Crimea?
Yes it really is a great deal of fun. I almost wish the episodes would come out faster, but I gotta cover the whole weekend
Well there are different opinions about that roaming the forum.
Muscovy is further away and could have trouble in getting to the battlefield - a problem Poland don't have. So we'll see about that.
Should definitely sue for peace there. The five year timer would otherwise likely mean your destruction.

Good luck im running a theodoro game myself. It took like 4 restarts before crimea didn't immediately DoW me. I got Circassia and Georgia as allies(I wound up helping Georgia versus Circassia and got their coastal province). Issue is fighting the crimea and well the ottoderps ><

With some luck you can annex them a couple of years into the game and they make quite the nice power base vassal.
My game is running along those lines as well. Ottomans are going to be the biggest issue in the long run, but I can keep them away in the beginning.
Well the ottomans got into a war with most of the HRE and venice. I decided to leap on genoa.....venice n co peaced out within a year prompting the ottoman doom stack on to drop on me after me and Georgia took down crimea. Time to restart 4 more times until the crimeans don't attack me within the first year.
It can be tricky indeed. When to attack who and watch out for the others.
However, there is not only one way of doing it, it depends. Just keep trying until you get it right, and maybe my run can be of inspiration too.
After like 15 retries I actually managed to escape to Ireland! I was so happy. But then I found out that my assumption that I would gain a core on it when Crimea took my capital was wrong . Ended up having to consule core it. Cheat, I know, but it took allot of work and I wasn't gonna let it get ruined. Now the year is 1499, I have like 100 ducats debt and I just finished my first colony in Greenland. Gothic escape to America FTW!!!
