There's also the hordes, the Crimeans, the Lithuanians etc. It won't be boring for sure.
Yeah it's new and interesting. My biggest wish so far has been to ally Muscovy. They are so far away that allying them is quite a challenge. It's a whole minigame on it's own
Getting a good fleet up and running fast is also a priority.
Why? Goths did the most work for destroying Rome back in the day, why turn around now?
Theodoro gets attacked real freaking quick by Crimea. Quite the hopeless starting position.
They're Hellenized and Orthodox. Arianism is long gone. Plus dat delicious Royal Marriage.
Being the only Gothic culture in the game doesn't make Theodoro anymore Gothic in the old sense, than anybody else. It's still related to Byzantines in the game.
A good beginning strategy surely is to ally the Byzantines. They won't last forever though.
Unless they get caught up in a war with the Ottomans or get attacked by The Golden Horde.

I tried Theodoro. Well Crimea gave me 3-5months Before come after me I fought back with all i could (not so much) bankrupted the country very fast and in the end got annexed but i used all scrap of money, man power everything i could get my hands at.

Growing fast is a good strategy. You can beat Genoa, even with the Austrians in the war. Preferably take both of the adjacent provinces, then don't slow down from there

In my run, I day 0 DoW'd Ryazan and was merrily occupying it when Crimea DoW'd. They vassalised me, then I annexed Ryazan and released them as a vassal, then waited for Crimea's moment of weakness. Theodoro's really fun, honestly.
