Note that I'm talking about the government type, not the national idea set.

  1. It's hard to get out of Theocracy.
  2. Non-Catholic Theocracy is quite bland..
  3. It doesn't come with LA reduction.

I looked at the Ibadi Theocracy in north Africa in 1444, but don't feel like to try out...

Could they be fixed into something more fun to play with?

Don't Theocracies have their own unique NI set which is pretty damn good?

No, that's tied to the nation. Most theocracies were given ideas though (Ajuraan for example used to have the trash generics). There's a berber theocracy though for example.

I used to rate them highly as they didn't have the BS loss of RT/Legit that the other governments had and also no regency chance/stabhit on ruler death. Now, you don't lose RT anyway and both republics and monarchies get options to get constant -LA. Theocracies don't, and in that sense they got nerfed heavily by LA, while some governments were relatively buffed by that (IE admin republic giving -.2, meaning that in such a government gives you double the monthly -autonomy even at war that you used to get at peace.

An admin republic or absolute monarch will lose 2.4% autonomy per year even in a permanent war. This means you can bleed off the effect of increasing autonomy very quickly in the mid-late game, fast enough that you gain significant reduction even if you constantly take the -10 unrest.

It hurts that even iqtas get the reduction but not theocracies. This alteration to the mechanics really hammered them.

Only Christian theocracy's get divine ideas.
For the goverment itself, for none catholics it is basicly worse then despotic monarchy which is the worst monarchy in my opinion.

Could very well need some kind of buff like +1 missionary and conversion strength, maybe troop moral to.
