Somehow in my game lords of Byzantine Empire elected Ecumenical Patriarch.
This effectively makes Byzantium Theocracy
After his death very strange things start happens.
Patriarch and Emperor now are two different men elected.

Every first day of month Emperor somehow lose Constantinople to Ecumenucal Patriarch. And at every end of the month (25-30) he revoke Constantinople back.
Sometilme they both change their capitals to Constantinople but every month for last 80 years all is reveted back.

You may see how Patriarch now hate the Emperor.

When I claim Constantinople and declare war on it, after month war is over inconclusively.
I DOW again and again in different phases of ownership of Constantinople but war always ends.
Even if I have fast-stormed province.

Something like that was reported before for [2.5] - Patriarch becoming Byz Emperor. Yet I see no way it could happen and no way to reproduce.

My best guess is: succession laws of Byz Empire are hardcoded and could be different from succession laws of other realms even if they have the same name (it was done fcause of purpleborn traits). That led to strange things earlier like having both Byz Empire and Kingdom of Italy both primogenture results into 2 different heirs for these titles even if there are no purpleborn heir - just devs changed code for general succession and forgot to do the same for Byz succession. There could be some electoral succession hardcoded bug only for Byzantine Empire.

My guess it happens when full council is implemented by factions or liege will.
Succession changes to Elective not only at feudal states but Iqta too, so in the very same game I have seen Empire of Hispania change its name every next ruler because of elective inheritance.
So I guess happened to Biz here - Emperor gave Amafi republic to Patriarch (this is happened too often to be a single incident) - Patriarch became electable and on the election BIz became Theocracy, only to split titles between next elected Patriarch and next elected Emperor-cleric.

But still my problem is - Constantinople moving between both parties twice per month. :)

PS. I have managed to get the country by claiming duchy of Thrace and waiting moment to ask for peace with 100% won war at the moment when Emperor had country himself. :)))
