I prefer the new system. HOI3 maybe had a very detailled system for OOB but it didn't do well in my opinion, especially if set to auto. Divisions moved hundreds of miles from their commanders loosing every bonus they might have had before turning on the AI.

Based on what we see on the WWW the AI is performing much better now. Personally I have already some ideas how to use this. For example creating large AI controlled army groups for infantry and smaller armies for mechanized and armored forces with much smaller designated frontlines.

Theaters are only an tool to organize your armies, kinda like folders on your PC. You assign your armies to the Theaters that you create and that way have an much clearer overview over each front, instead of everything showing at the same time. It should be noted tho, that you can set priorites for theaters for reinforcement equipment so they actually have a use aside from organizing. They also will tell you if there is something wrong with armies in that theater, like lack of supply or enemy naval invasions for example.

/\ Yeah, I get that. I'm just thinking about making really intricate battle plans, with multiple commanders pushing on lots of smaller fronts. It'd kinda be cool if there was a theatre commander overseeing it. Just like, a portrait in the theatre bar with an small bonus for all commanders in that group.

Dont get me wrong, I prefer the new system to the OOB of HOI3, but I think that all those commanders should have someone to report to.... Kinda the way that Patton reported to Eisenhower.
