This thread is about Paradox's YouTube channels. Personally, I tend to enjoy Paradox's video content on YouTube, as I prefer VODs to streams when it comes to format and YouTube to Twitch when it comes to platforms. Today, I noticed Paradox had recently launched another YouTube channel: Paradox XL. This puts their total of YouTube channels (that I know of, anyway) at four.
Paradox Interactive: Mostly short, scripted promotional videos like trailers. Distinct from the other three in this regard.
ParadoxExtra: Used to be for everything else, but now is mostly for non-PDS (including non-PDX) games as well as things like the podcast.
Paradox Grand Strategy: Split from ParadoxExtra, this channel was for all the PDS game streams, until now.
Paradox XL: Videos that previously would've gone to one of the two previous channels.
Now, I remember finding it a little bit unnecessary at the time when Paradox launched the Grand Strategy channel, but at least the distinction was clear and there was no overlap. Arguably, this allowed a viewer to customize their subscriptions page to a greater degree, with no real drawbacks. This point just so happens to be my focus in this thread, which is why I find the most recent entry disagreeable.
With the recent change, new gameplay content released on the ParadoxExtra and Paradox Grand Strategy channels appears to now consist of supercuts, with all the full-length VODs going to Paradox XL. Personally, I'm not interested in these supercuts, as I'd rather watch the complete VODs, so I suppose the solution to my situation would be to unsubscribe from ParadoxExtra and Paradox Grand Strategy and only subscribe to Paradox XL. This, however, would deprive me of the podcast and other miscellaneous, potentially interesting content that occasionally goes to ParadoxExtra. Subscribing to all three would flood my subscriptions page with two videos per stream, which I'd really rather avoid.
As I'm starting to feel uncomfortably self-centered telling about something this personal and mundane at length, I'll take the opportunity to pass the ball to Paradox, instead. What is your strategy when it comes to your YouTube channels and their individual roles in delivering your video content? I imagine the new focus on supercuts is to release more digestible content, but I'm inclined to doubt there's a real market for this. I suspect fans are still way more likely to either watch the full VODs or get a recap with commentary from an influencer channel. People other than fans would, on the other hand, only be interested in content that was more concise either due to being scripted or having been cut even more extensively and deliberately.
Tagging @omfgBlondie, whose purview I assume this to be.
