The Yellow Crown: (A Wessex 769 AAR)

Greetings, fellow members of these forums and welcome to yet another AAR, which I solemnly won’t wither and die like the last few. This AAR, will be chronicling a custom dynasty, The Ingving’s in 769 Wessex. Though we are starting as the second ruler, Eadberht.

There is one very important thing to bear in mind with this AAR, Updates will be sporadic, because of the simple fact I am studying at University at the moment and that takes priority. At best, expect a chapter a week.

Writing Style:
The Yellow Crown is now a humour focused AAR, (as of 4/11/16) because I felt it was easier to use humour then serious writing.

DLC List:

All major DLC in use, bar Horselords and Reaper’s Due. Plus, a large amount of cosmetic and music DLC, which is too long to list.

The Yellow Crown: Prolouge: King Cedric (769 - 810)

Little is known of the origins of House Ingving, or indeed how they came to rule over Wessex. Many historians take the view that Cedric Ingving, the first documented ruler of Wessex was a minor landowner who was chosen to rule over Wessex after the extinction of the previous rulers and their kin.

Lands of Wessex - 810

Surprisingly little is actually known about Cedric’s rule, with writers preferring to focus on the ruler of his grandson Eadberht and his successors. Cedric was perhaps best known for his mastery of finances and his just rule. Of particular note during Cedric’s reign was the sheer amount of children he sired both legitimate and illegitimate. Cedric sired a total of 11 children. Furthermore, it was Cedric, who lay the groundwork for the further conquests of his grandson, more then doubling the size of Wessex during his long and fruitful reign.

Cedric died aged 65, overwhelmed by the stresses of ruling in old age passing the throne onto his grandson Eadberht, regarded by many as one of the greatest Ingving kings…

Cedric had a total of two wife's, my knowledge of the first one is sparse I will update when I have some information. The second was from House Wuffing the rulers of East Anglia, she sired Cedric's last three children. With the first wife siring 5 children.

To my knowledge Cedric sired two bastards, Sigrid being one of them and Gundhilda possibly being the other, I will update when I have more detailed infomation.

Wulf was tragically slain on the field of battle during the war for the county of Middlesex, in the later years of Cedric's reign accounts suggest he was slain in battle by one of the enemy commanders. Since Athelstan (Cedric's first born) died as a young teenager, and Wulf was dead, but had Eadberht the throne passed to him. Wulf and Athelstan shall be talked about in the next lecture.

Yeah, claimants are going to be a problem in the long run. By the end of his reign I was referring to Cedric as the 'Walder Frey of Wessex'

Apologies for not getting a chapter out this week, word on my other PC basically gave up the ghost. At some point this week, I'll transfer the pictures onto this pc, and work on the next chapter for a Sunday release date.
