Hax: Tomorrow I promise! As KaiserMuffin says, patience... and it is a virtue. I still remember the days when you haven't catch up yet. Anyway you are one reason I am updating twice a week instead of weekly :p

Acguy & Onni_Manni: Cores on all will make Mongol uber-power!!! Obscenely greedy but justiable as Khan did not earn the tag of "universal ruler" for nothing! :D

Naval battles!!

Neomann: TQ! Hope you continue to enjoy it. :)

jonie-dinofreak: Won't let Soviet take back what are rightfully Mongol's!! It is Mongol's since 700 years back from the times of the Golden Horde. :D

UPdate for this weekend:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nov 20th, 1948
Mongol forces continue their advance north along the west flank of the Ural Range pinning the German forces between the advancing Mongol army and the Soviet border. The 1st Cavalry reaches another objective of Kirov repulsing back weak German counter attack.

842kirov.jpg

Lt Gen Mindro (Keshik 1st Genghis Korps): My cavalry is unstoppable!

And in the short forest skirmish, Mindro gains the skill of the Ranger!

Chimid (Chief of Staff): I could sense the destruction of the entire German forces here at the Soviet border. Victory is imminent. The longer Hitler refuse to accept that, the better! We will continue to destroy his army piecemeal!

Nov 29th, 1948
In Western Africa, Mongol leapfrogging advances along the coastal waters result in more Allies troops encirclement.

843conakry.jpg

Gen Luvsan (2nd Armija): The US puppet state of Liberia is within sights! They shall get a new master soon!

Edwin J Barclay, Head of Liberia sees chaos engulfing his capital Monrovia as citizens panic! Mongol forces are battling Allies in nearby Freetown!

Meanwhile in other fronts:
A change of commanders. Lt Gen Irgel of 15th Mongol Korps serving in German-Ural Front position is swapped with Gen Kryunchenkin of Keshik 2nd Kublai Korps serving in East Africa to make use of the latter’s higher position to command a larger army as new recruits are channeled to the Ural Front.

Nov 30th, 1948
Advance Destroyer technology developed by the aid of Italian shipbuilders, Royal Hellenic Naval Shipyard!

Yanjmaa (Armaments): New advance destroyers in the making!! Again, we won’t stop here. The learning of Semi-Modern Destroyers is next!

Ganbaatar (Chief of Navy): As we are going to be building a big fleet of DD, make only the best!

Dec 2nd, 1948
The fate of Liberia has Mongol written all over it! When Mongol troops storm the half deserted capital of Monrovia via the beaches, there is practically no resistance as all has been wiped clean from CAS attack.

Gen Luvsan (2nd Armija): Liberia is… liberated from the colonial master of the American! :D

Choybalsan (Chief of Army): Brilliant Gen Luvsan! More shall embrace the way of the Khan!

Luvsansara (Head of Gov): Without further delay, we shall not deny Liberian aspiration to join the glorious empire in the world!

844liberia.jpg

And with that, Liberian lands are annexed and influence from their former American master extinguished!

Dec 4th-5th, 1948
Still victorious in Liberia the sole Mongol heavy cruiser Krasni Kavkaz is retrofitted with advance fire controls and improved hull in the port of Monrovia boosting its firepower and defenses! American reacted to Liberia “liberation” with the arrival of an 11-ship carrier fleet the next day!

845retrofit.jpg

Land based Mongol CAS forces scrambled into the air to zoomed in their bomb sights on the US fleet containing three capital ships, 1 carrier and 2 battleships!

Air General Smushkevich (CAS Air Fleets): Let’s show them who’s boss. I can see that they are going after our TP landing fleet.

In an initial phase of attack, the first American carrier goes down and
Another battleship severely damaged.

Ganbaatar (Chief of Navy): Hah! Their fleet is bloodied and Fleet of Khan shall sail for another day!

Grand Admiral Luvsan (Fleet of Khan): I am itching for fight as a matter of fact! A good time to go for the kill now when the enemy is down! Heheeheee! :p

Dec 6th, 1948
With US fleet losing 2 out of 3 capital ships as the land based CAS continue to engage, Luvsan committed the Fleet of Khan into the foray!
With better ship positioning, the battered US Fleet actually attacks Fleet of Khan first.

846navalwin.jpg

Grand Admiral Luvsan (Fleet of Khan): I want glory, Mongols must rule the waves!! Our final frontier! Fire back at them!!

At 8am, US and Mongol naval ships battled out in a even fight for the first time! But Mongol has additional support from the air of course!

About six hours later, the American withdrew after their last battleship got mauled by combination of Mongol CAS and naval firepower.

Grand Admiral Luvsan (Fleet of Khan): We’re victorious!! :D

For a loss of a single Mongol transport ship, the US lost one carrier, one battleship and two destroyers in battles over period of two days!

Ganbaatar (Chief of Navy): Yeah! They cannot trifle with us anymore!

Dec 7th, 1948
Mongol continues to make great strides into naval warfare!

Yanjmaa (Armaments): Naval Firepower Doctrine learnt! We’re one step closer to specializing soon.

Ganbaatar (Chief of Navy): We better! We need better naval battle techniques and strategies!

Dec 10th, 1948
The unreliable Soviet support shows its ugly head again.

Gen Luvsan (2nd Armija): Holy Khan! Soviet withdrew troop support in Central Africa thrust! We have to return the 78ya and 39ya Korpus. That is 7 total divisions mostly under FM Timoshenko!

Choybalsan (Chief of Army): This is an outrage! FM Timoshenko is the main element of the central thrust! General Chimid, what’s going on?!

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Sheesshh! :eek:o I have no answer why will Soviet high command retract their support when they are important leads in the Mongol advance! I need to check back with headquarters!

Choybalsan (Chief of Army): This is unbecoming of them! It looks like Africa need to be taken solely by the west and eastern armies led by Mongols divisions themselves!

Soviet must have been taken aback by huge Mongol successes that they begin to feel threatened!!

Dec 12th, 1948
Krasni Kavkaz, flagship of the Fleet of Khan is taking on repairs in Monrovia docks after the last ship vs ship engagement with the US. The rest of the fleet continues the Western Africa campaign by assisting in amphibious assaults all along the coast.
Unknown to the Mongols, a large 30-ship US carrier fleet led by Grand Admiral Halsey, a true carrier taskforce appeared over the horizon. Consisting of up to 26 carriers, three battleships and one destroyer, it is almost invincible! And moments later without warning, the 11-ship Fleet of Khan without it’s flagship is fired upon from hundreds of carrier bombers and battleship guns!

Gen Luvsan (Fleet of Khan): Incoming!!! Execute evasive maneuvers!

847navalloss.jpg

Pamiat Merkuriya and Profintern are the most powerful ships within the Mongol fleet but they are merely a pair of Great War light cruisers! For once, the Mongols were ‘horded’! This time by swarms of US carrier bombers! Within a few hours, 10 ships are lost leaving only a destroyer barely escaping alive as the land-based CAS fleet arrived too late!

Grand Admiral Luvsan (Fleet of Khan): I…. Survive!!

Ganbaatar (Chief of Navy): But lost almost everything else! Fortunately our sole heavy cruiser Krasni Kavkaz is not with the fleet as without doubt, she would have been destroyed!!

Never have so many ships lost in so few hours! But their losses shall be avenged as Mongol navy shall return stronger than ever! The old are sunk and shall be replaced by newer modern vessels!

Enewald: CV taskforce? heh, still learning how to build early carrier  OK, don't even start on nukes yet, Mongol still got a long list of techs to catch up :D

Hax: Progress has been well in Africa but some strong French resistance in Congo. What the heck French troops are doing in jungles??!

E. Jünger: Luvsan is certainly not enough XP in sea. Remember he holds the job as a land general (2nd Armija) as well and a Grand Admiral for Fleet of Khan. I wonder which one is part time :eek:o

FlyingDutchie: Give 'em a chance and Khan shall rules the waves!! My next update will show that Mongols have sink quite a number of enemy capital ships... from the safety of the air of course! :p

1948...the year in review.

Dec 25th, 1948
On the morning of Christmas, the 4th Mongol HQ division is commissioned.

849hqfourth.jpg

Yanjmaa (Armaments): The 4th and last HQ division completed and per the given directive, it should go to…. our elite Genghis Khan Armija! Congrats, General Badrak!

Gen Badrak (Genghis Khan Armija): Muahahaaa! I felt bestowed with so much power that I gonna explode!!!

FM Choybalsan (Chief of Army): You deserve it!

Yanjmaa (Armaments): You’re too far in the frontlines in former Soviet so the HQ will be deployed here in Kaunas first and move over land to your position.

Dec 29th, 1948
New naval bomber air-wings created!

850hainan.jpg

Yanjmaa (Armaments): We just roll out two new naval air-wings from the hangars of Hainan airbase!

Ulanhu (Chief of Airforce): Even more firepower from the air! For these naval bombers, their range is far superior at 1300km! That is a clean 1000km more range than our CAS bombers!

Ganbaatar (Chief of Navy): I’m thankful for whatever weapons that can assist our young navy!

Yanjmaa (Armaments): These new divisions will be rebase to bigger and better equip airbase in Okinawa to prepare themselves for the first sortie.

Jan 1st, 1949
A new year begins to mark a passing of a successful year of Mongol conquest and another glorious year ahead!

851empire.jpg

Choybalsan (Chief of Army): I’m sure our empire is looking pretty and BIGGER than the same time last year!

Chimid (Chief of Staff): We have completed conquest of the Iberia, made major inroads into Africa… more than half of the continent has been taken and progress deep into Eastern Europe. We shall be able to liberate Soviet into its former glory this year…

Luvsansara (Head of Gov): Oh yes… yes! Just make sure we pursue Hitler to the end. How about the Far East? When can we finish off Japan?

Choybalsan (Chief of Army): We have already begin island hopping operations in South East Asia. I believe we can finish off Japan for good this year too. Their naval fleets that are wandering aimlessly in the ocean still poses a threat. I wonder where on earth they still get the fuel to run their ship rudder?!

Amar (Head of State): Sounds like a good year ahead for 1949 too! Just make sure it happens to plan!

Luvsansara (Head of Gov): With our expanded empire, do we have enough troops to safeguard the interest of the empire and also continue our conquest?

Choybalsan (Chief of Army): Our armies has been growing at a phenomenal rate! Since appointment of Madam Kollontay as Security Minister, our manpower recruiting rate has more than doubled and that contributed greatly to expanding our army. We have now 166 infantry divisions from the total of 185 land divisions. Our army is probably the biggest in the world, only second to Soviet.

852armycompare.jpg

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Kollontay has been instrumental in the success of Mongol army expansion! As you see, Soviet has been a helpful ally. Mongolia is now recruiting manpower all over the world at a rate of 2700 men a day! Of which less than 100 I think is native Mongolian actually! :eek:o

853mptc.jpg

Luvsansara (Head of Gov): Simply excellent! We have an international army all fighting for the cause of Khan! We have been accepted by the people of the world! Our empire truly stretches from Pacific to the Atlantic! Genghis himself could only reach the Mediterranean but we have gone further! Do we have issue with supply logistics on our so very vast empire?

Yanjmaa (Armaments): Our so called TC, a term coined by Lhumbe is running in the 40-50% typically. Partisan activities sucks up the most resources on our available transportation.

Kollontay (Minister of Security): But we will tame them over time… faster if you actually annexes them instead of keeping them under occupied territories! They need to lose the sense of their identity and hence their patriotism! So they will only have allegiance to Mongolia.

Choybalsan (Chief of Army): Don’t worry, the major Axis powers will be annexed this year.

Luvsansara (Head of Gov): How are our military talents growing?

854leaders.jpg

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Under my leadership, they are all improving immensely! Look at the roster here on each unit commander, skill ratings and experience! We are getting better for sure! Including myself, we have so far nine generals or of higher rank. Our most skilled commander will be General Badrak of Genghis Khan unit which we awarded him his own HQ unit a week back!

Choybalsan (Chief of Army): Just don’t promote him ok, I won’t tolerate a more skillful Field Marshall than myself! But I certainly respect that veteran. He has been fighting for the greatness of Mongol since our first campaign against Sinkiang!

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Don’t worry, you’re the Army Chief!

Choybalsan (Chief of Army): Our armies are growing fast so the number of division under each unit commander has also enlarged hence the spike of promotion of new generals that can command a higher number of divisions more effectively compare to a Lt-Gen. I foresee this trend to continue unabated.

Luvsansara (Head of Gov): Let’s hear it from our Air-force. I hear that our CAS fleets are very much into supporting the land and sea battles!

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Definitely! One of the key to our success! They help soften enemy strongholds, wipe off enemies before they could fully regroup after retreating and one very important one, sink enemy vessels!!

Ulanhu (Chief of Air-force): Yeah right, baby! My CAS fleet are unstoppable! We have 45 air-wings in operation from West Africa coast to South East Asia! Assigned for naval patrols, direct ground combats and even naval-base defense. And also do not forget 17 interceptors air-wings to defend our precious CAS fleet and stop enemy bombers from harassing our empire especially in Europe!

855airforcecompare.jpg

Ganbaatar (Chief of Navy): I am counting on them to protect our naval fleet which we’re still trying to build. The CAS group is darn good at taking on both Axis and Allies ships alike! Look at the score-chart!! This is the list of sunk capital ships since we begin the war! It sure gonna grew longer by the month due to our active island hopping operation in South East Asia and shore landings in West Africa which will attract more enemy navy! Here is the list of enemy ships we have sunk so far! All by CAS, not the navy! At this rate, I may not be required at work! Muahahaaa! :p

856sunkships.jpg

Luvsansara (Head of Gov): We have done well even before we really roll out our naval fleet! Thanks to the projection of our Cavalry Air Strikes, our shores will be safe!

In the midst of the yearly review by the war cabinet, a sudden announce came through…

Luvsansara (Head of Gov/Foreign Minister): Got a telegram here! Another South America country is ganging up on us! This time….. Paraguay!

857paraquay.jpg

Amar (Head of State): Para.. What?! Nevermind, it’s good for us! They are certainly inviting us over the Atlantic!!

Chimid (Chief of Staff): South America is already within striking range with our naval bases in Western Africa. We can strike once we wrap up Africa!

Jan 2nd, 1949
The war cabinet meeting drag on to the wee hours of the next day.

Luvsansara (Head of Gov/Foreign Minister): Ok, before we call off the cabinet meeting, any other matter to discuss? We have earlier decided to keep our successful cabinet intact without any reshuffling.

Choybalsan (Chief of Army): Oh yes, our domestic policy! Many people are enticed to join our victorious Mongol army including from new lands of the empire! We can afford to choose the best and do not need any drafting at all! It is an all volunteer force for a Standing Army!

858cabinet.jpg

Luvsansara (Head of Gov/Foreign Minister): Certainly, my great general! An full Standing Army for the Empire of Mongol!

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Brilliant! With the best people taken in, our new recruits going to the front line are not green at all but instead with experienced!!!

With this new policy, a new Mongol division comes with +20 XP!! A star!!

With the war cabinet meeting over, it is time to turn to the frontlines again! Choybalsan took a ride in Mongol’s new turbojet VIP passenger plane that took him from Ulan Bator to the battle frontlines in couple of hours!

Nyambuu (Intel): We will cut off German forces at the Urals when we push towards the Arctic Barents Sea at Mezen! They are commanded by FM Rommel, former commander of the Afrika Korps. Apparently he was darn good there but by the time we reach Egypt, there is no German forces in Africa anymore. Looks like the Allies has already kick him out!

Choybalsan (Chief of Army): Which means Rommel’s so called greatness is a mere lie! He shall lose here in the barren Soviet tundra like how he lost in the barren Saharan deserts! The landscape is all the same, just that one is hot and another cold!

859rommel.jpg

Commanding 22 divisions, Choybalsan’s forces attack across icy river and battling over frozen marshes to take on the German in what could be Rommel’s last stand! The fortification and dug-in troop position did not help the Germans as they are fighting on empty stomach and low on ammo!
Within a day of intense fighting, German forces are in full retreat to the port city of Archangelsk! Rommel has chosen to run!!

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Run like a squirrel! Back into your hole! :)

But most did not make it, 8 CAS air-wing from Moscow begin bombing the beleaguered forces of Rommel. Few survive. And Mongol is one step closer to major victory!

Enewald: Horse caravans contributes to the TC for the Mongol Army!! They can never being ignored, nevermind 7 centuries later.... :p

SovietAmerika & FlyingDutchie: The Paraguay and the rest of the South American regions must have been under the influence of Uncle Sam. Those "puppets" didn't realise their continent is WITHIN striking range of Mongol transports! ;) When they do, it is too late for the suckers! Muahahaa!

Hax: No need to, only contributes partisans. When I annex Japan hopefully in 1949, all that chunk of North-Eastern Siberia landmass automatically revert to the rule of Khan!

Didaro: Thanks for compliment and I do hope you continue enjoying. I would be more happy to share my strategies if you come across any part of the gameplay that looks impossibly hard to pull off.

Just wanted to say I've read the AAR from the beginning, it's been really interesting and hilarious to read, and the graphics are quite appealing, you must have put a lot of time in to those.

So keep up the good work Thundergate! I'll definitely keep lurking this great AAR. :)

Thanks TRP!! It has been an honor to have a veteran AAR-writer to lurking in my pages. The graphics and all that sure took a lot of time. If I don't write this AAR, I could probably double my game-play time!
Hope to continue to see you in AARland as a reader after your retirement writing.

Updates today!!
