Chongqing burns...

At 2pm, July 11th, 1938, Chongqing fell under the hooves of Keshik Mongol Korps…

Lt. Gen Choibalsan: General Chimid! We reached the heart of the capital and evil Chiang’s army try to take it back but we manage to hold our ground!
83chongqingwins.jpg

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Great job!! Do your stuff!

Lt. Gen Choibalsan: We got to burn down the place before Chiang send more reinforcement! Anything of values should be stolen! Anything that can burn should be burning! It’s the will of our Great Khan!

Choybalsan (Intel): The city administrators fled to Tianshui! Cowards! Those mice!

Chongqing. Burns… Brightly and furiously.

84chongqingburns.jpg

Amid the falling ashes, cries of the dying slowly succumb to the raging flames and choking smoke.
In one day of havoc, the industrial output of the capital falls from 16 IC to 1 IC.

Just two hours later…
Lt. Gen Choibalsan: Holy Khan! Chiang’s army are at the city gates! Time to fall-back! Luckily we’re efficient in carrying out our scorch earth policy! Chongqing city centre has been pillaged to the ground!

85chongqingcounter.jpg

Choybalsan (Intel): The foolish enemy transferred their capital to Tianshui just up north of our position here! Waiting to pack their bags to return to Chongqing after we relinquish the city!

Lt. Gen Choibalsan: Yeah, but somebody forgot to tell them they have nothing to return to after we’re done! :)
Let's get outta here!

MOre like 700years ago from 1220-1300 AD period. BUt I am facing competition from my nemesis Japan! Everyone wants a piece of China!

Enewald said:
yay, China is going down and fast!
How much ic do they have left

If i recall in the 27/30++ mostly concentrated in the southern and central Yangtze area. BUt they still have LOTSA MEN!!! Mongol is advancing thru the mountains and hills on the western side could not match Japan's more rapid advance from coastal
You will see what I meant by 'competition' when I find some time to post updates later this week.

Poor China...any plans to burn Japan?

Japan is the eternal foes of the Mongol as Khan did not manage to defeat them due to of all things, a typhoon! Ain't giving 'em a 2nd chance in WWII :D Plan to annex 90% of their land and puppet them to inherit their navy and airforce. How else do I get a navy to fight across the shores ;)
Ahem... but 1st, China :)

Updates from the front:

Chiang reclaimed back the smoking ruins of Chongqing.
86chongqingloss.jpg

Chimid: We shall continue harassing any of Chiang’s troopers that enters Chongqing so that he will not have a piece of mind on his capital!!

The city of Chongqing will continue to change hands several time for next several months, it is a battle-scarred frontline city! The Mongol's goal is depriving it's from contributing to Chiang's war economy has been achieved! Not to mention the enemy's loss of prestige for the lost of the capital :p

Aug 22nd, 1938
Luvsanshara (Head of Gov): With all the recent city plundering you did, we can afford two more infantries with artillery brigade! What say you, Gen. Chimid?

Chimid (Chief of Staff): I… am… at… loss… for… words… HOLY KHAAAAAAAAANNN!!
87twomore.jpg

Luvsanshara (Head of Gov): It is time to develop better calvary technology as well since most of your lead attacks has been mounted just like the way of the Khan! Here are blueprints for modern calvary!

Lt. Gen Choibalsan: I’m sooOOOO touch! Sniff.. sniff!

Aug 27th, 1938
Chimid (Chief of Staff): Our advancing Soviets brothers from Xining finally reaches the key city of Lanzhou after it has been earlier cleared of their defenders. This city is bordering traitorous Chairman Mao’s territory that has a high presence of enemy troop with deep fortifications in the hills and mountain. Our true comrade will help safeguard this city from Chinese incursions.

Dagva (Minister of Security/Chief of Army): Looks like Mao even manage to stop Japanese advance there. Well, we just by-pass the stronghold and continue focusing south! Sooner or later when they are cut-off an surrounded, the defenders will crumble.
88lanzhou.jpg

Luvsanshara (Head of Gov): Sounds good. Just keep bringing in the good news!

A real dearth of leaders there. Ah well, at least they should become pretty high skill. ;)

To Enewald, Demokratickid & Myth,
Yes, the leaders are a few but the Mongolian army are small anyway. Was already lucky to have started with TWO generals. With 7 leaders, could have at least 7 corps size army totaling 21 divisions. But currently Mongolia have a pitiful 5 infantry divs, 1 calvary and 4 militias only which the current leader count can handle as they total to just 10divisions.
With two more infantry just purchased, it will make a dozen. Balance manpower after manning those two will be ~15. Ooppsss, a little low! Got to get more Chinese recruits! ;)
Btw, thanks for your kind attention to this AAR. :D

Battlefront Chongqing & Yangtze!

Aug 28th, 1938
Chimid (Chief of Staff): Take that Chiang! Not gonna let you be anywhere near my Ya’an mountains! You can have your ruined capital Chongqing back but I am not going to let you really settle down there either!

90tianshui.jpg

Sept 27th, 1938
Gen Luvsan: Let there be no peace in Chongqing when it is in Chiang’s hands! Attack!!!!

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Cool! My Soviet comrades has send armor and motorized divisions to support us in Sichuan! Not sure how they send the tanks over the Ya’an mountains to this valley but here it is! Felt like Soviet high command has developed… teleporting technology!
91chongqing.jpg

Sept 12th – 20th, 1938
Chongqing belongs to Mongol… no wait China… err..it gonna change again…
92tonfro.jpg

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Oh man, my Soviet brothers are making uncoordinated charges into the city, I got to rein on them!

Sept 24th, 1938
Chimid (Chief of Staff): Whoohoo! Finally you undo your silly teachings that caused my army to loose 25% of their organizational capability! (from 48%38%)

General Sheng Shicai (former Sinkaing warlord): Yes, with Large Front Doctrine the organization prowess of your army improved back!

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Now, the best place for you is in the dungeons out of my sight!
93largefront.jpg

Lhumbe (Armaments): Time to start focusing on our war industry back, I propose Basic Manufacturing!

General Chimid need to complete unfinished business in Sichuan…Chimid (Chief of Staff): General Luvsan! We need to show my brothers that I taught the Mongol army well by capturing Chongqing once and for all! By arriving with force in numbers in Chongqing, we will scare the shit of our Chiang’s army such that they will fall back!

General Luvsan: Right away!!!

And on Sept 28th, 1938… General Luvsan army of four solid infantry divisions backed by artillery arrived and secured Chongqing once at for all!
General Luvsan: We’re here in Chongqing to stay! Chiang’s army has been defeated! All of Chongqing shall bow to the Mongols!! Haha!!
94chongqingfall.jpg

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Gooood!!!

Sept 28th, 1938. On the same day Chongqing fell….
Chimid (Chief of Staff): We got to move quickly south across the Yangtze river gorge to secure a bridgehead. It is difficult to cross. So charge south, across the river to victory!

Without resting, the Mongol relentless army attack Fuling on the other side of the great Yangtze River. Unfortunately Chiang’s retreating army from Chongqing has arrived and also gathered in Fuling holding their position by Oct 3rd.

General Luvsan: Oh gosh! Calling off attack. We lost 500 men already and the battle odds doesn’t look good! Darnnn!! The cowards of Chongqing are holding up on the other side of the river!
95crossfuling.jpg

Chimid (Chief of Staff): We gotta find another path across!

Sept 30th, 1938
Meanwhile, far-far away in distance Europe…
Luvsanshara (Head of Gov): Wow, this nation of Germany takes over part of other nations through words and negotiation alone, I am impressed!! The pen is really mightier than the sword or gun! Got to polish up my foreign policy skills!
96sudetenland.jpg

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Hey, but I will be out of a job! Guns rulz!! No?

Oct 3rd, 1938
Chimid (Chief of Staff): The Japanese are imposing from the east! And we’re freaking stuck behind the north bank of the Yangtze River!
Dagva (Minister of Security/Chief of Army): I am concern of the lost of central Yangtze area to them, we got to cut east and block Japanese advance!

Chimid (Chief of Staff): I agree to the modification of earlier plan that calls us to cut south to take Kunming, Guilin and Guangzhou. If we reach the contested area of central Yangtze instead, most of southern China will be ours to take anyway! So instead of the orange waypoints, we shall take the red path!

97strategy.jpg

Dagva (Minister of Security/Chief of Army): Oh yes, we could still take half of China! Yeahh!! We shall attack east along the north Yangtze riverbank until we find an opportunity to cross the river at any weakly defended point.

Huh, you and Japan will soon be cutting China in two it looks like. You'll have to face Japan sooner or later, will you do it as you fight China or only afterwards?

I thought of taking on Japan while still fighting in China so I could do a surprise backdoor blitzkrieg thru the heart of Manchuria and annex her so that she becomes MINE and not Soviet's. At that time Japan should be still busy fighting is southern China which I am still in the midst of it.

TheViPer said:

Do not know the size of Japan's army but I am sure SU is larger, didn't keep track of their # of divisions! But I CAN TELL YOU MINE :D Twelve overworked divisions!
Didn't intend to puppet China as I want that part of the map to be same color as Mongolia's :) Intend to keep puppeting to a minimum in this game as the world should have just one color, that of Khan's.

Played the game instead of preparing updates today, sorry!!!

The Yangtze Abyss of Death!

The picturesque scene of the Yangtze River Gorge, is nothing more than an abyss of death for those crossing it to hostile territory…

98yangtzegorge.jpg

Oct 6th, 1938
The journey downstream Yangtze banks in search of a point of weak defence…
Choybalsan (Intel): Soviet airforce flying overhead reported only a token defence to the east of Fuling province. We got to race there and are hit them where they are weakest!

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Good intel! Attack Wanxian immediately!

Dagva (Minister of Security/Chief of Army): Time to get out of this cozy Sichuan valley and into the surrounding mountains again! Let’s go, men!
99wanxian.jpg

Oct 12th, 1938
Further upstream of Yangtze…
Choybalsan (Intel): Hey, our Soviet brothers are making a concerted effort to blast through east of Fuling for a crossing at Zhaotung with air-support!

Dagva (Minister of Security/Chief of Army): Haha! Chiang’s army have got no chance!
100sucross.jpg

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Yeah! Don’t mess around with the Bolsheviks! The Soviet bear will pounce on you mercilessly! But we shall maintain our course downstream following our strategy drafted earlier to get closer to Japanese front line position to indirectly block their advance.

Oct 27th, 1938
State of China by political-military control map.
Choybalsan (Intel): Latest intelligence analysis shows even the Japanese have not break through the Yangtze river yet except the estuary area where they rampaged thru Shanghai and Nanjing. Even then, the area is still bitterly contested.

Chimid (Chief of Staff): By taking Wanxian, we will actually isolate Chiang’s capital in Tianshui, no I mean Nancheng… wherever! It changes every month! Hahahaa!!
101chinamap.jpg

Dagva (Minister of Security/Chief of Army): The first who cross central Yangtze shall reap the rewards!! Onward to Enshi province!

Oct 30th, 1938.
Lt. Gen. Choibalsan (Comander of Mongol Keshik Korpus): Reached central Wanxian! Taking fire from Chinese army! Reinforcement required!

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Help is on the way!

By November 3rd, 1938, Wanxian is secured.
102wanxiansecured.jpg

Dagva (Minister of Security/Chief of Army): We’re next to Japanse position in Ankang but hey where are their troops??!

Choybalsan (Intel): Beaten back, no doubt! They aren’t the great Mongolian Khan’s army, hahaha! And our reconnaissance is correct, only one division defending Enshi! We need to break out as soon as the army has recuperate.

Nov 8th, 1938.

Chimid (Chief of Staff): We have rested enough! There is still only one defending division across the river… ATTACK!!!!

Dagva (Minister of Security/Chief of Army): For the glory of Khan, forward!!
103enshi.jpg

Choybalsan (Intel): Hurry before Chinese reinforcement arrives!

Nov 17th, 1938.
Just a few day before 65000 Mongolian troops crossed the Yangtze Gorge to arrive in force in Enshi province…
Choybalsan (Intel): More Chinese forces!

Chimid (Chief of Staff): Damn! Our battle odds are failing at the cost of a thousand Mongolian soldiers by the hour! The river and mountain defense on enemy position is giving us insurmountable odds!

Dagva (Minister of Security/Chief of Army): We got to call of the attack! No sons of Khan shall be sacrificed in a lost attempt!
104enshifail.jpg

The halt advance whistle were blown across the front and the battle of death crossing the river abyss is ceased.

Nov 12th, 1938.
Further north, Soviets and Communist China battle out at the fortifications of Chairman Mao.

Choybalsan (Intel): What an irony! The defense were built to safeguard the communist ideology but now it is brother against brother!
105suvsmao.jpg

Lt. Gen Tsendenbal (Mongol 4th Division): Traitors shall not be spared! Lenin is our savior!! All those against him shall die in the hands of my militia recruits!! Hey, don’t laugh! It’s still an army! A winning one! Take that! Bang-bang!!

Dec 2nd, 1938
Chimid (Chief of Staff): Our comrades have actually crossed Yangtze up in the high mountains and captured Xiaguan at the foothills of Tibet of inner Yunnan!
Luvsanshara (Head of Gov): That must have scared the balls out of Chiang. Thinking he gonna lose Yunnan’s allegiance to his alliance, he proceeded by force to take over Yunnan’s army!
Choybalsan (Intel): That is what desperate and losing people do!

106yunnanendgame.jpg

Chimid (Chief of Staff): OK, our advance across Yangtze at Enshi has failed and lost two months in the process! We shall cross at Zhaotung with our Soviet brethrens!

Dagva (Minister of Security/Chief of Army): They have successfully crossed but the Chinese army is trying their best to push back the Soviets back!

Chimid (Chief of Staff): We shall come to their defense!!!
