I once played as Hesse and did quite well. My size went up to ~12 provinces, i had austria as a vassal and was fighting against Burgundy.
I managed to defeat their army, took 3 Provinces and wanted to sign a peace treaty, since i had almost no manpower left.
A second before i hit the button, Brandenburg joint the war. The finny thing: They had been an ally of Burgundy when they had declared war on me, but dishonored the alliance. But while i was fighting fiercly, they allied with Burgundy again...
Off course now the AI rejected even a white peace, my warscore went down from +25% to +5% (though i dont really know why...), the Brandenburgian army destroyed my damaged land force and in the end i had to give up 5 provinces to make peace...
Another unlike game was a match as Sicily, were i inherited - Lithuria...
BB was about 51, every single country in europe declared war on me, game over.
