March 16, 1917 to March 25, 1917

We begin with an overall look at the situation on the western front.

march161917westernfronttp7.png

To the south, Petain has been defeated, and the Germans are mopping up the last of the French resistance.

In the north, the Germans have reached Dunkerque where the two British divisions are quickly overwhelmed.

Elsewhere the French have 11 divisions under attack at Paris with 4 additional divisions in reserve at Chartres. The Battle of Paris would prove to be the last major stand of the French army, it didn’t turn out well (for the French that is).

march161917parisdg7.png

The German Kavalleriekorps under the command of herzog Albrecht was ordered to circle west of Paris in an attempt to cut off any retreat options for the French, but it appears that maneuver will be unnecessary as the division after division of the French army is wiped out. Meanwhile the reserve divisions at Chartres were attacked by General Ertl.

march221917chartresls6.png

On the other side of the world, Korea has been pretty well cleared of enemy divisions, and only the occasional partisan is providing any resistance to German occupation.

march251917koreaef5.png

If only we had some transports we could begin the invasion of Japan, and bring this theatre to an end.

But back in France…

march251917parisbattleoey2.png

Overall, the situation in France has turned from a stalemated front, into a rout.

Meanwhile, in Serbia

apr41917serbiare0.png

With most of Serbia now under German control, it was time to begin the peace process. The terms for Serbia must be the harshest of all since in the German eyes, it was they who started the war.

apr41917serbiapeacedealwr1.png

Serbia refused our generous offer, but it will only be a matter of time before they acquiesce to our demands. The goal is to give the northern border provinces to Hungary, while the southern provinces will go towards the creation of a new Macedonian state. Of course this will leave Serbia very weak, so to help them out, they will be allowed to join the German Economic Union. :D

A Naval Update

The British continued to show an excessive amount of interest in the Baltic. On March 17th, a small squadron of German submarines under the command of Prinz Heinrich was on patrol when they discovered yet another group of British transports.

Admiral Röhrl was signaled and immediately preceded to the area.

march171917balticseavn6.png

The order of battle should reveal the eventual outcome.

march201917oobuy5.png

Following the battle Admiral Röhrl returned to his station in the Danish straits. Of course, the real question here is, what’s the British objective for all these transports: Sweden or Germany.

The answer turned out to be booth…

apr21917britishinswedeeui3.png

apr21917britishlandingswf4.png

In response to this admiral Röhrl was ordered to find more British ships.

apr31917anothernavalbatcc9.png

The ordered of battle revealed that the British still had at least two escort vessels left.

april31917oobqu2.png

In the end the German dreadnaught Kaiserin took some heavy damage, but remained afloat while the British lost the dreadnaught Warspite, the cruiser Galatea, as well all her transports.

Where did ol'Herry end up stationed after that debacle, anyway?
The Spitsbergen police department?

April 1917

This final update for the day will be a loose collection from around Europe.

We begin with an overall look at the western front.

apr81917westernfrontex5.png

The French army at this point is nonexistent save for a couple of divisions in the south that are on the run.

With the fall of Paris on April 11th, plans began in earnest for the final surrender of the French.

apr111917fallofparisws9.png

French war exhaustion is pretty high which should lead to pretty favorable terms.

apr141917frenchwarexhaufd7.png

Meanwhile, the latest British invasion on the North Sea coast is being dealt with.

apr121917northseacoastgw7.png

To the south, Serbia continues to accept our most reasonable peace overtures, while the invasion of Bosnia begins not by the Germans, but by the Hungarians (of course the Germans are not far behind).

apr171917invasionofbosnxe0.png

Lastly, from the comical files: Admiral Röhrl finds himself attacked by 9 British transports.

Rohrl is as gifted at destroying transports as Gedicke is sinking his own, a rare gift indeed! You'd think the British might want to save something to defend against the upcoming invasion. Interested to see the new Macedonia created along with the new french peace deal.

Not really, remember, the US army has hardly lost anything compared to the other allies, so its still in fighting condition.

Plus the small fact that their military score is 27, while your's is, what, 400 or thereabouts? Should weight things in your favour a little...

Nice update, is Röhrl the anti-Gedicke? It remains to be seen....

That's not entirely true. It is still in fighting condition, but it has taken its fair share of losses.

Most of the combatants at Chalons were Americans & British who were sent to France as an expeditionary force. If I remember correctly I transfered some 95 divisions to France (I can't remember how many were Brits and how many were Americans), which means the US has lost a lot of men.

Of course if I remember correctly they still have over 100 divisions guarding the Mexican border. I plan to transfer those to London prior to the invasion of England.

Did you notice the AAR turned one year old 5 days ago?

And the whole thing is certainly a years worth of effort indeed, amazing!

Has the US navy been up to anything lately? I cant recall you sinking them like the Brits.

wow, a year old. I can't believe it.

I never thought it would last this long, nor be this popular.

As to the American navy, the AI is keeping them close to the American coast in order to prevent any amphibious landings.

Later on I plan to transfer control of the American fleet to the British, so the AI will use them to defend the British Isles, but that's still a little ways down the road.

Are you going to help Sweden?! 10 Divisions seems like perhaps too much for them to handle. Are the Swedes still at war with Russia? If so, they're probably busy occupying Finland right now. They could probably use some help.

10 Divisions is probalby more than the Sweedes can handle, so I'll send some help, the trouble is all my divisions are in France, so it will be some time before I can get there. I believe Sweden has around 10 divisions total, so they should be able to hold out for a while, and I should be able to provide some shore bombardment once all those transports are sunk.

Of course I do have a reputation for hanging my allies out to dry. :D

This is General Joeb, after having taken a break to view the beautiful countryside of Chalons, I found myself accedentally behind enemy lines and forced to live off the land. Fortunately, there were plenty of corpses in the area to keep me alive.

I have been acused of many things, all of which are true. The worst of these accusations is that I'm a canabal, but the other bad one is that I'm pessimistic.

Anyway, I've returned and I'd like to mention that the only reason I've ever been seen smiling anywhere is because I had heard about the unfortunate death of my entire family in a freaky automobile accident.

I have returned with a list of reasons as to why Germany will never be able to win this war.

----

Sweden will be angry about you not helping them...

and the UK will be willing to take another Ally in against the German Hordes...

the two combined will send 20 divs straight into the heart of the German Empire!

Your days are numbered!!!

----

You laugh at the idea of the UK sending so many transports at you, but soon one of your submarines is going to come up from under the water and crash into one of those transports! At the rate of 500 transports to every submarine, it looks like the British will be victorious!

Your days are numbered!!!

----

Austrians will be bitter following your abandonment! The people will rise with the same ferocity they had during the Socialist Revolution! They will be aided by the Socialists within Germany! Together they will create a major conspiracy never before seen in the history of humanity! No ammount of conventional force will be able to stop them!

Your days are numbered!!!

----

You believe you can control the sheer ammount of countries that will be created in Eastern Europe? All with an "Economic Union"? This is impossible! People will demand their rights! People will learn of the true nature of their satellite status! They will demand their freedom! No one country can stand against the people when unified and with one cause!

Your days are numbered!!!

----

Your colonies in Africa are large. In fact, they are too large! And because of this war you haven't been able to give them the attention they need! The people of Africa will grow apart from their German overlords! A revolution will be planted! This revolution, like the American Revolution before it, will be triumphant, not because of sheer military might, but because no one country can ever stop the will of the people!

Your days are numbered!!!

----

And lastly...

SPAIN!!!!

Your days are numbered!!!

(btw, great AAR, I've caught myself up and this is definately a years worth of AAR work... mine will be a year old soon enough, and it's only about 2 days worth of AAR compared to this)

On the fact of Africa, Joeb is most likely right. From the confusion that is occuring in Afrika currently, I would expect at the least several regimes to pop up within the lands, but not actual countries. By the way, is Austria, when occupied, going to annexed entirely to the Reich, or are nations going to be broken off in the Austrian Balkans to finish the reorganization?
