The situation on the Western Front continues to deteriorate (from the Allied perspective) at an alarming rate.
Initial estimates put the Germans once again in Paris within a couple of weeks.
Of the three main battles that have taken place, the battle of Melun is finished, and 18 German divisions are consolidating control of the city before moving on to Paris. The other two battles of Laon and Cambrai continue with German victories looking more and more inevitable. Even the usually pessimistic general Joeb was seen smiling, at the Imperial War Ministry Building.
To the south, Petain continues to hold out, but a new German thrust is pushing in behind his position, and he will soon be trapped at Lons-le-Saunier. Elsewhere on the front, the only other army of any real size is resting south of Melun.
One interesting note is how the Allies seem to be short on generals. At this stage, every German stack has a general, and I have created so many, that all the generals in Europe all have great stats. (Any general with poor stats, is either retired or shipped to a meaningless front). My latest favorite general is fighting the British at Lille.
The other thing that stands out in the battles presently taking place, is the Allied refusal to withdraw and reorganize. In every battle, whole divisions are being wiped out. Divisions the Allies are unable to replace.
In other news, The Serbians are even closer to the breaking point than the French.
The Kaiser’s reorganization of the Balkans continues, as Albania (under German occupation for a year now) is granted semi-autonomous independence. (Which means they are allowed to exist as a satellite state of the German Empire).
