You should be able to put the title into your profile yourself. I don't believe any approval is needed except for avatars.

Gen. Joeb is not the only one who recommends against your Bergamo adventures... The spirit of Prince Van Rensselaer is attempting to tear his hair out, which is a big deal, as he didn't have that much hair to begin with! :D

Bergamo is German for Vietnam. :p ;)

With Russia's lack of troops on the Swedish front and you mopping up in preparation for a spring offensive, I doubt you'll face much resistance once you start your invasion in earnest.

Hurrah for the Kaiserliche Marine, and congrats on marginalizing Italy (except for Bergamo).

Now that I think about it, why did you attack Bergamo if they were sending troops to Trento? You were defending at Trento... Maybe you meant Bozen?

It's been several months since I played what is being presently posted, so I don't remember all the details exactly, but as best as I recall, when I saw that the Italians were moving troops out of Bergamo towards Trento, I sent three armies to Bergamo hoping to arrive after the Italians had sent most of their army to Trento.

Wouldn't you know it I arrived before they left, so instead of facing 2 divisions with my 25, I am now facing 5 divisions. Still the odds are 5 to 1.

Yes, but remember "Stettin's Stand" -- 30,000 dug in soldiers killed about 300-400,000 enemy.

It's been a while since I played Vicky. Do you have to capture the provinces before you can demand them in peace?

intresting, what are you going to do with the austrian lands that you keep if austria falls to the socialist and or the republicans?

If Austria goes socialist then I plan to invade, so the real question will be what happens Austria in general. If it's annexed, well then you have your answer, but if I set up pupet government, then I'm not sure what I'll do.

If Austria goes Republican, I'll probably just keep it out of spite.

If Austria goes Monarchist then I'll probably return it to them, but I still might keep it as reparations (or spite ;) )

It's not necessary, but at this point it's a matter of stubborn pride on my.. er... uh... I mean on the part of the German High Command

If its a core territory, you don't need to hold it for peace demands.
In peace offers, anything (except capital) can be offered, although generally border provinces are offered by ai.
In colonial war I think you can demand unheld provinces.
Normal war you need to hold it to demand it (uless core)

Just for fun , I decided to play as France in the Great War scenario - and withdrew all my troops to one province in the Pyrenese,

Germany predictably overranned all of France - except for that one province

It's now 1919 and for the past 4 years , 700000 men are sitting there in one province and doing nothing ( I know , that's silly) .

All the while , the allies are landing men at random areas throughout France.

Most of the time , 200000 Germans instantly obiliterate these pitful 20000 men army.

I'm actually trying to figure out how to utilize shore bombardment - most of my navy is holed up in Britan.

Nice going, but Bergamo. Again and again and again. The high staff seems like a stubborn child trying to destroy a fortress just by sending enough men to break it under the weight of dead corpses. I guess it costed you more men than the whole Russian and rest Italian campaign together.

Life on the Eastern Front

While most eyes were fixed on Bergamo there was another major battle taking place on the eastern front. In the Polish town of Krakow, the Germans had pinned down and with overwhelming numbers were slowly wiping out the dug in defenders.

dec161915krakowmr3.png

Elsewhere along the eastern front there are other battles taking place, but nothing of consequence as in each battle the Germans have a 3 to 1 superiority. At present the German armies are simply patrolling the border as we wait for more troops from the Italian and Bohemian sectors to arrive in anticipation of the spring offensive.
