Hm, if I were the khan I'd have used Vasily to send a 'message' to Moscow :)

Good writing! I like where you're going with this, and yes - revenge against the Tatars shall be sweet.

the blind prince

The capture of Vasily the second helped delay the recovery of the money that was still in bankruptcy. The only problem was Dmitry Shemyaka took control of Moscow. Dmitry, the son of Yuri who had tried to claim the throne of Muscovy. Yuri was killed in his power struggle for the throne. His son Dmitry though was spared in this power struggle. When Vasily came back to Moscow, Dmitry had been waiting and had a suprise waiting for this once he knew was captured.
The doors to the Kremlin swung open as Vasily marched back to take back his throne, which he didn't know was taken.
"Welcome cousin, I see you have been taken prisoner recently." Dmitry said darkly.
"Dmitry, what are doing here?" Vasily said suprised.
"I have came for revenge, You blinded and exiled by brother!" He thundered.
"You fool! You helped take out your brother!" Vasily shouted back.
"I didn't want this to happen to him!" He screamed back Then he got up near his cousin Vasily and pulled out a dagger.
"What are you doing?" Vasily said spurised and then Dmitry took his dagger and slashed out the eyes of eyes of him while Vasily screamed for his life. Vasily was forever blinded and then he was sent to Uglich for exile. but after a few months of asembling his men he retook his throne without much bloodshed.

Vasily II now had decided to let his ministers do his work for him due to his blindness. This allowed a great deal of improvement to come. He even allowed his son, Ivan the III, to help rule his land. The other ministers decided to declare war on the Kazan horde, a break off of the golden horde. They decided to get revenge on them. This war was short less then a few months. Ivan assembled his men, this was this first war Ivan would fight in. This showed that Muscovy could triumph over these tartars. The province of tambow was taken captured and then surrendered to Muscovy. The victory of Muscovy helped Get Muscovy out of its bankruptcy.

The Russian chruch benefited as well from this war. The province of Tambow was a Muslim province but churches was built in this province. The Russian church had started to become just that a Russian church it was starting to separate itself from Constantinople and the romans. The Roman empore decide to unite the two churches in the concil of Florence. the Russian people were outraged by this idea. Vasily decide to allow the Russian appoint their own bishop. Bishop Jonah was apponited Metropolitan of Russia. This furthered the delectation of indepence of the Russian church from the Patriarch of Constantinople. The Russian princiaplties applauded this move.
Can Vasily luck keep up with his victories or will the tartars humilate Muscovy once again...

I don't think that blinding was very nice.
No, but then Russia does have a litany almost of seriously not nice rulers.

The tartars need to be educated as to who is the new ruler of roost.

Ahhh, the beginning push against the Horde. And I agree - Scandanavia will need to be dealt with in time.

I like how you have portrayed the rulers thus far. The richness of their characters stand out.

The last years of Vasily II

The last years following the war with the tartars. Their was another bankruptcy for the golden horde wanted to tribute then. The ministers of Vasily thought that giving into their wishes was a wise idea. Ivan III thought differently. He demanded to know why we should give into them after we just beat them.
the Kremlin following the war.
"the Horde has asked us to pay our tribute money now!" a messenger said to Vasily and his court.
"We must pay our dues to the khan!" one of the court ministers said.
"Why, why should we give in to the Horde when we just defeated them?" Ivan demanded.
"If we don't the horde could gather enough energy and men to destroy us we don't want to risk this." another minister said. It soon became apparent that the ministers were going to win this argument but Ivan would never forget this.

as time went on during the Bankruptcy. the wars between Tver and pksov came to an end. This was good for Tver was a vassal of Muscovy. It was after this war that Vasily thought of binding the two principalities together. This was going to further increase the size of Muscovy. It was also going to give Muscovy a clear edge in uniting Russia, which now that Novgorod was deafted by the Scandinavians that it lost its hopes of uniting Russia.
The palace in Tver
"My lord, the grand prince of Muscovy is here." the messenger to the grand prince of Tver spoke.
"Ahh let him in." The grand prince responded.
"Ahh, My friend." the prince of Tver responded to the prince of Muscovy.
" I have came here with a proposal." Vasily said.
"Well what is it." The grand prince of Tver said.
"joining Muscovy." Vasily spoke to the prince of Tver suprise.
"What?" the grand prince of tver said shocked.
"The dream that we hold dear could be a reality under my leadership." Vasily spoke to the prince with the intent of coaxing the prince into his agreement of anxaxiation.
"What dream?" the prince demanded.
"Silly, the dream of a united Russia." Vasily spoke again with the intent of coaxing the prince into his agreement of anxaxiation..
"My armies have finished conquering a province that was owned by the horde." Vasily spoke again with the intent of coaxing the prince into his agrement of anxaxiation.
"The Horde You deafted the golden Horde!" The prince said a little scared and suprised.
"Yes and now we turn our eyes on the dream of a united Russia and we could take it by force if we have too." Vasily told the prince.
"ok, I don't want to face anything that can deafte that, I shall give in."The prince said.
"Good, good" Vasily spoke and with that the principality of Tver, which owned Pskov as well, was no more.

After dealing with Tver, Vasily turned to Ryzan the principality to the south of Muscovy. It was here were Vasily demanded submission to him. At first the Grand prince of Ryzan wasn't going to do this but their was rumors of war that forced the grand prince of Ryzan to submit to Vasily II. This was the last major event that Vasily himself commanded. In 1462 Vasily the second was dead. Ivan the III came to the throne which thankfully no one claimed the throne as well. It was time for Ivan to start putting his plans of war into action.

If Ivan do the things using force instead of diplomacy, then I prefer his methods than the diplomatic ones. But a nice beggining. I wonder who will be the Ivan's target...
