besides, a human controlled Poland should be able to capture such a small country... whatever happens, it should be interesting.

Hopefully, lets incorporate the Czechs into the greater Polish Empire! :D

Yeah... Złote Miasto-Praga, Warszawa-Paryż Północy... (Golden City-Praha, Warsaw-Paris of the North) We all had our moments of glory...

<Checks his AAR plans>

Hm... To be honest, invading Czechoslowakia was one of my priorities, perhaps even before invading Latvia... But when I checked the Czech army, I noticed their experimental division, consiting only of Svejk's clones and resigned... Even our cavalry can't take on Svejk!

i was wondering about that! IIRC, Czechoslovakia starts the game in 1936 with the best armor. not to mention some very defensible territory...

OH well, just move them down the "list" a bit... :D

April - June 1938

Dark clouds above the Europe

Hitler officially retreated from any demands on Austria, but no-one hoped he will give up his plans of building the "Greater Reich". It was clear that showing a demonstration of force, which worked twice so far, won't be enough if Hitler once again threats a neutral country.

The Polish intelligence estimated in their reports that Wehrmacht has reached a size of about 130 divisions, much larger than the Red Army and twice as large as the Polish Army. With such force Hitler could have challenged every country on the continent.

Facing such a situation, France and England decided to guarantee independence for Poland, Czechoslovakia and Austria, which took place on the 5th of April. It has also been decided that if any of those countries is attacked, the Western Allies are to mount an assault into western Germany within a month.

Polish defensive plans

Shortly after the Latvian war marshal Rydz-Smigly demanded a preparation of a defensive plan, which would allow the Polish Army to hold German onslaught long enough for the Western Allies to launch an offensive towards the Rhine. Ultimately, a plan codenamed "Zachod" (West) was brought up.

According to its latest version (Dating 14th of April, 1938), the Polish army was to hold the Germans on the Dmowski's line (Gamewise: not to lose any province), while a small task force was to eliminate the greatest threat for the Polish Army - sieze Eastern Prussia and then reinforce the Dmowski's line's defenders and wait for the Allied strike to begin. When the Wehrmacht had retreated its forces to the west, a poweful counteroffensive was to be mounted.

War in Europe

Schuschnigg's decision to maintain Austria independent put his country on a verge of a civil war (Gamewise: Austrian dissent is about 40%), leaving his country defenceless against any German actions. But Hitler knew that if Werhmacht gets stuck in Austrian Alps, he will have nothing to counter possible Allied attacks.

Poland, on the other hand, looked as a hard nut to crack, as the Dmowski's line could slow the German advance down for far too long for the Wehrmach to reorganise and push the Allies out of Reich.

Czechoslovakia seemed to be the best target for the German aggression. Their defences in Sudetenland could be easily flanked through an undefended Troppau (Opawa in Polish) region. Then a fall of Prague and Bratislava would be a matter of days, as the Czech army was too small to hold the German steamroller.

On th 25th of May, Hitler demanded Czechs to cede the Sudetenland, which was inhabited mostly by Germans. Obviously, Edvard Benes, the president of Czechoslovakia, refused to cave in. On the 28th of May Hitler ordered all units concentrated on the Czechoslovak border to prepare for "Fall Grun" - invasion on Czechoslovakia. The offensive was planned to begin on the 2nd of June.

Seeing German forces mustering on his country's borders, Benes requested the Western Allies to fulfil their obligations and to declare war on Germany. On the 1st of June the German ambassador in Paris recieved a French declaration of war. Twenty years of peace in Europe were over.

Excellent update. :) This scenario is of course very favorable to Poland. I think the polish High Command should seriously consider declaring war on Germany as soon as the Heer and Luftwaffe is fully occupied in Bohemia.

what's the level of your land forts and your flak?
EDIT: If you get military access from Russia, you will be able to take over Bulgaria.

All my forts are on level 3, with 1st level of anti-air defence being built (ETA: 2nd of July)

And speking of invading Bulgaria... Worth considering, I must admit. The only problem is that the British just LOVE landing in Varna and wasting all the fun :-(

Good for you, the Allies still sympathize with Poland. I wonder if Poland isn't seen as something of a bad influence on the continent themselves, having swallowed Lithuania and Lative. That's more mischief than Hitler! :)

Some types of Polish weaponary in the dawn of war

TKS

TKS.jpg

TKS with NKM 20 mm (NKM = najcięższy karabin maszynowy = the heaviest machine gun)

Based on a British Carden-Loyd tankette, TK serie tankettes are primary reconnisance vehicles in the Polish machine shop. Designed in 1931 in Ursus factories, TK-3 tanks were originally equipped with one 14 mm Hotchkiss machine gun.

In 1934 a new version, TKS, with more powerful armour (10 milimeters in the thickest area.), new engine and a number of minor modifications was brought into mass production.

Shortly before the outbreak of war in Europe an order was given to rearm a number of TKSes with newly designed NKM 20 mm. Some research has also begun on equipping a TKS with specially modified 37 mm anti-tank gun (TKS-D)

TKD.gif

TKS-D self-propelled AT gun

Gamewise: Let's assume that TKSes are used in standard armoured divisions, as well as in recon units. TKS-D = 37mm tank destroyer.

7TP

7TP.jpg

7TP - single turret version

Based on British Vickers E tanks, 7TPs were the most advanced tanks the Polish army had. It was brought into production in 1935, initially equipped with twin Vickers machine guns. Ultimately, in 1936, the most successful Polish anti-tank gun, 37mm wz. 36 (wz. = wzór = model), was modernised to be installed onboard the tank, greatly enhancing its firepower. This version, unofficially known as 7TPjw (jw = jednowieżowy = with one turret), turned out to be an even opponent for German Panzer IIIE type, completely outclassing both Panzer I and II.

In 1938 two armoured units (10. Pancerno-Motorowa BK and Warszawska Brygada Pancerno-Motorowa) were ready to be used in the upcoming conflict, with about 100 7TP tanks in both of them.

PZL-P11c

Jedenastki.jpg

PZL-P11c fighters ready to fight!

First prototypes of this fine fighter were produced in 1934. When it was brought to active service, PZL-P11c was one of the most advanced fighters in the world, but quick technological advance and appearance of new Bf-109D fighters made the old "eleven" an obsolete plane.

In 1938 two full squadrons from Brygada Pościgowa (Pursiut Brigade), were ready to be used in combat. In the upcoming conflict they will be hopelessly outnumbered, but it is a well know fact that a Pole can fight even against most incredible odds...
