Why not? Heck they can replace the tank bodies with that of giant robots and the Germans will cave in. ;)

Ghostwriter: My tanks? Made from paper? Want to see me and my little tank enterning your house via your garden and walls?

Semi-Lobster: Then poor Guderian has to understand that his pesky Pzkwf IV won't be ready on time! <Evil laugh>

Cyborgevo: Thanks for encouragement and good luck with your AAR. :)

And now for something completely different. Yesterday the greatest Polish ace of the Second World War, general Stanislaw Skalski, died. He fought throughout the whole war, from the defeat in 1939, through Battle of Britan, in Tunisia (As a commander of famous Polish Fighting Team also know as Skalski's Circus) and in Italy.

During the war he managed to win numerous engagements, shooting down 22 and damaging 1 enemy airplanes.

Sorry Ghostwriter, this text about tank enterning your house through garden and walls was addressed to Amona.

Nevertheless, if anyone dares to call my little tank paper ones, this threat applies to him as well :->
doesn't matter. i have confidence that you will defeat Germany.

FYI, my computer just went down for the third time in eight days. now, it always wants to boot to setup, whatever that is... a geek i am not, but i think from what my tech person said to me that it has something to do with the installation of SP2. it is good that my wife has similiar computer as mine. ;) not that i like to use it.

hmmm, since my house could use a re-model, feel free to bash it with a tank! :D just be sure to remind me to have plenty of insurance. ;)

January - April 1938

po%20Lotwie.jpg
Poland just after the Latvian campaign (5th of April 1938)

A silent period

It seemed that the Europe calmed down after the Polish-Latvian war had ended. Even Hitler did not make any aggressive moves against any neighbouring countries. The only thing that disturbed Polish goverment was that the Wehrmacht was quickly building up its forces. In 1936 21 divisions were reported to be present on Polish eastern border. In 1937, just one and a half year later, the number rocketed to about 54 divisions, with twice as much expected to be concentrated on Reich's western border.

That's why the Polish goverment considered strenghtening the Dmowski's line as a top priority. It was hoped that its pilboxes and bunkers will hold the German onslaught, while the French muster on the Maginot's line and launch a counteroffensive. But Poland turned out to be Hitler's secondary target. His main prey appeared to lay in the south, not in the east...

Anschluss?

On the 12th of Febuary 1938, during his state visit to Germny, Austrian chancellor, Kurt von Schuschnigg, was given an offer hard to refuse: To incorporate Austria into the Third Reich. After returning to Wien Schuschnigg secretly contacted French and British goverments, asking for help in stopping Hitler's mad plan.

Not suprisingly, the Allies were most unwilling to take part in any action that may lead to war. Austrian chancellor made a last ditch effort to save his country: he organised a popular voting, in which Austrians were to decide whether they want to become a part of the Reich or not.

The result was easy to predict. Over 90% declared that they want to join the Germany. Nevertheless, Schuschnigg decided to gather all loyal military and to defend Austria's independence. Of course, this put Austria on a verge of a civil war.

In Berlin, Hitler demanded an instant execution of "Fall Otto".

A sudden change

Seeing Schuschnigg's determination and hearing about German troops advancing onto Austrian border, the Allied goverments decided to shift their policy towards Hitler. The French army concentrated on the Maginot's Line and a small Royal Navy task force, consistion of at least three battleships, approached Wilhelmshaven. This show of power turned out to be once again suffucient to stop Hitler and his plans.

Ultimately, Adolf Hitler gave up all demands on Austria on the 1st of April 1938.

Cool, no anschluss! There is a surprising turn of events and quite helpful to the Polish cause. Also, nice to see the map of 'Greater Poland'. :)

Ups... no Anschluss? Weird... this should help you, as it makes Germany clearly weaker.
By the way, in your comments in my own AAR you often refer to Panzergeneral 2, this good old game.
If you are still interested in this classic, you may check the following non-commercial site, which is basically in German, but has an english version too:
www.rayy.de/raiders
There you can find an international community of PG2 players, new patches and equipmentfiles and tons of usermade scenarios of high quality, including some made by, well, me.
If you still play PG2 I highly recommend this site to you. All download is for free and its really worth the try.

Henry: Yes... I can assure you, the Czechoslovakian matter shall be resolved in completely different way than the historical one. :D

Amona: Thanks for the address. I love PGII and I've even once tried to create some compaigns: the Polish and the Soviet one. The Polish one finished quite rapidly - I had to format my HDD and lost my ONLY equippment file, in which I added quite a lot of tanks and planes (Such us 9TP, 10TP, 14TP, PZL-P45 and so on)
On the other hand, after half a year of work my Soviet campaign has been recently finished... Now I'm wondering if it's possible to publish it somewhere in the net...

You may contact the webmaster Rayy of the aforementioned site. If your campaign is changed to our equipment file, it may be published.
On the site you will find also a campaign by myself, which is already said to be a classic. Unforetunately, the scenario briefings in the campaign are in German, as I decided to start my HOI AAR instead of translating my PGII campaign to the English language.
But enough of this off topic matters.
I really like your AAR and I am eagerly awaiting the developments in your game.

HA, i knew that Hitler was a weenie. there is no way that Czechoslovakia will give Hitler any territory, or anything else.

not only that, but Hitler will be in trouble with his Generals over this. His Generals are not weenies. :D

Great Update as usual! A Czech-Polish Alliance perhaps?
not likely, i remember reading about bad blood between Czechoslovakia and Poland about that time... [wacko because IRL all those "little" countries could have stood up to Germany collectively, but individually they were toast...] hmmm. i think it had something to do with multiple countries wanting "provinces" that had multiple nationalities settled there, wherever "there" was. everybody wanted to control their own people.

besides, a human controlled Poland should be able to capture such a small country... whatever happens, it should be interesting. :D
