((Wow. Contravarius, that ultranitarian symbol is really cool. Also love the edit of "1984" scene))

When it comes to the elections:

- No electoral pact giving away victory to the Liberals? Check.
- CPGB didn't manage to invite Red Army Choir to Britain? Check.
- Interesting leader and policies that I agree with? Check.

Conservative Party

Spot Poll

The Tories are on course to be wiped out as Labour, the Liberals and the Communists stand equal with one vote each as Britain heads towards a hung parliament.

It is quite clear that the only course of action is for Tories to vote Liberal to stave off the threat of a Labour-Communist pact.

UPDATE: The Tories now have one vote - Britain is split four ways between the four parties. Who knows who could win under such circumstances!

I hereby nominate David Penhaligon to be Liberal leader in the (undoubtedly) upcoming leadership election:

Maybe a bit young (not yet 30!). Should the Liberals fall from power this election then there is indeed a very good chance you will be looking for a new leader. I'd say the three leading candidates would be: Emlyn Hooson (Home Secretary from 1958-63 and 64-69 and close Grimond ally), Jeremy Thorpe (Chancellor 1967-69, still a dyed in the wool Yellow but not quite so close to Grimond as Hooson) and Roy Jenkins (Foreign Secretary 1967-69 - clearly an outside contender, a moderate Orange who could present himself as the perfect man to heal the divisions within the party and appeal to voters potentially lost to Labour).

At this stage James Callaghan (Chancellor 1958-63 and 64-67) is probably out of the running as too devisive and unashemedly 'Orange' a candidate.

But all that is something to think about after the election of course.

Hmmm, these elections are really interesting.

If we get Thorpe then I would be very upset. I do not want a "dead dog" incident in this TL as well as OTL.

New kid on the block, I'm proud to say that this AAR finally gave me the push to abandon lurker status, some great stuff this is!

Still would make a better PM than Big Cyril.

Oh, and on honour of it being IWD and all, I hereby announce my decision to back Gaitskell once again and vote Labour once again. Though Liberals flinch and Grimond sneers, we'll keep the red flag flying here.

The Ultranitarianist Manifesto

Human society has come from an absolute anarchy, risen from the absolute chaos and its last and final form will be total, all-powerful, State and Order. Every step towards an all-powerful, all-controlling, State is a step Forward, another sign of Progress.
In history there has been two types of States – the despotic states of „Thou Shalt Not“ and totalitarian states of „Thou Shalt“. We are the Builders and Founders of the Third Kind of State, the State of „Thou Art“, the flawless State, the Final State, the Ultratotalitarian State.
The State shall be all-embracing; outside of it no human or spiritual values can exist, much less have any importance, only the State and Party interpret and develop the Order and Life of the People.
The People mustn’t just obey, they must Adore the Party, they mustn’t only be willing to die for the State and Fatherland, they must be willing to sacrifice Everything.
Invidualism shall be purged – there is no need or room for an individual mind for there is only the combined mind and wish of the State and People reflecting in the Party. There is no though separate of the Will of the Party, the Party is the Thought, the Party is the Mind. The individual only has power in so far as he ceases to be an individual.
The two aims of the Party are to conquer the whole surface of the Earth and to extinguish once and for all the possibility of independent thought.
The totalitarian regimes of the past have failed to reach their final goal of total control over all aspects of Life, over Minds and Bodies of the People – the time was not right, the humanity was not ready. Now we are ready.

There is no Loyalty, exept Loyalty towards the Party.
There is no Love, exept Love of the Party.
There is no Reality but the Reality created by the Party.

((No factions or electoral pacts this time, eh? Works for me.))

And of course, despite the moderation: Tories!

So... Are you picking commies this time around or...?
What are our options here?
We shall see, but as things start either the communists or the labourites would be a good choice.

((I only read "The Westminster System for the elections...))

Labour - The only option for sensible Britons!

Thrope Has gone to far!

He has abused the Orange liberals and our moderate union allies for the last time!

I join 13 of my colleagues and defect to the Labour party!

I also strongly condemn the radical red terrorism and the crimes being committed against my Catholic brothers and sisters in Northern Ireland.

-The Rt. Hon. Mr. Van5 Grant-Covington, MP for Belfast South

Boo! How could you? It will surely lead to the decline of UK. Their policies are disatrous! And don't let yourself fall under the sway of socialism.

And what kind of further reforms can we expect from the Liberal party? And it is a shame that it is only the Liberals who support the EEC. Looks like it will be the social reforms (or lack of, or what kind of) that will let me decide to support Liberals ince more, or the Tories.

So Liberals and Tories, persuade me..
