A government the Liberals soon shunted them from, so not really. As Tommy notes just above, Labour has not had much success at all since... well, 1945. The economic situation lies solely at the feet of the Liberals and Tories, who have been the two parties trading leadership back and forth. The very best Labour has had, which is not much, is that brief pact with the Liberals where they were betrayed. I find it markedly difficult to blame them for the woes of the last five years.
And the Labour, Liberals and One Nationists economic policies have been almost identical.
Allthough I have to agree with van5. We need to look for the most successfull country in Europe; West Germany. Let us adopt their union solution (which have showed to be better for social unity, less strikes and higer wage growths) and adopt their social market system. Let us look towards Germany, and get out of the dogmas of Lord Keynes and Social Democracy, and see where the success truly lies - in the social free market.
And now it seems like Liberal Parrty may steer us towards a Social Market and Ordoliberalism. Me likey. But on the social front it is still many issues. Our market and our morality suffer from women not being allowed to participate ithe stock exchange. And we need to make a law against domestic violence!
That's what ya'd like me to believe! Wouldn't ya, ya posh git?
I am no posh. I grew up in a working class family, in a working class town outside of Liverpool. But I believe it is better solutions for the workers and the economy than socialism.
Conservative party
God bless you sir!
