Harsh.

Orleanists didn't carry the 'sex appeal' of the Bonapartists in that AAR. A large number of people were almost begging for me to include them, I decided to give the people want they wanted . I thought it made at least some sense in the context.

I truly enjoyed the French game, but Bonapartism was dead politically after the death of Napoleon III (replaced by the 'Republican Left', the Republican conservatives) and got buried along with Boulanger. It's not a huge deal, it simply didn't make much sense. The readers wanted it, but for me, it broke the immersion. I really love this AAR, partly because we didn't have coups or revolutions

IIRC you introduced a "Bonapartist" party in the first election which wasn't quite Bonapartist enough (i.e. they weren't actually going to put a Bonaparte on the throne if they won.) and so disenchanted voters demanded that this be rectified. Makes perfect sense if you ask me.

IIRC it was the Action Francaise, and it would be strange to believe that Maurras' cronies would ever give power to a Bonpartist. Maurras viewed Napoleon as a product of the Revolution he hated, after all. Unlike what many seemed to believe, Bonapartism isn't reaction. I don't think Tommy should have adapted the agenda of one of the parties only because the forumites had no idea who they were voting for.


Other than that, people should vote Liberal. Save the party that saved Britain!

If the Communists managed to survive having next to no votes in 1949, the Liberals would survive not having many votes as well. Furthermore, voting Liberal supports Grimond as the Liberal leader, rather than showing him he has little support, forcing him to be replaced. This... isn't sound logic.

I doubt that Grimond will agree with Antonine on this one, but if he did then you'd be right. I feel sorry for Rosa and Enewald right now actually, if they had stayed with the Liberal Party at this election then now would be the perfect chance to shift the party towards the economic right - a sort of British-equivalent of the FDP.

Oh why do you say so? I voted Tory to signalize that it need change. Also as an reaction to the worrying trend of Liberals going over to Labour. But if that is the case, that is sad, as I have then sold my soul to the devil when I could get great things from the Liberals But again, the new trends of policies that are even more socialist than Labour in the Liberal Party are most worrying. Yes, and you are a traitor to Liberalism by subverting to Socialism. Most of the Liberal policies, even dogmatic Keynesianism, I can accept as it is not that bad, and have had positive sides. But with you wanting to install democratic socialism in UK are most worrying. If you had done like me, and gone away from economic dogma to focus on common ground socially, it could have fared much better Remember what in the end drove me to vote for Tories was to counter the new Labour surge. So it was one minir event (Blair voting Labour) who drove me to it, and then if we're concerned about Labour, preaching about even more democratic socialism politics than Labour party doesn't help your cause

'Useful votes' rhetorics are despicable. Instead of blaming people that vote according to their beliefs, you should try to convince them. Insulting people for not sharing your views is a very stupid thing to do. We aren't handing over power to the Tories, we simply prefer the Liberal agenda over the Labourite one. That is our right and telling us we are working for the Tories is undermining democracy, and is a step towards bipartism and corruption.
