Because in real life the Liberals only had anywhere from 6-14 seats in parliament for the entire 1945-1979 period. Hence, voting liberal in most constituencies would be a "waste" - a fact which the Labour and Tory Parties loved to drum into potential Liberal voters.

Which is why we developed the tactic of coming second and then telling the third party's supporters that their party couldn't win so they should vote Liberal to keep the first party out.

I can personally vouch for:
paperhatism, the logical continuation of the famous German ideology,
Caesaropapism, a very totalitarian version of absolutism, probably a continuation of the lategame German integralism
and Rhodesian fascism, which is just too complicated to explain here.
And then there's the short-lived national bolshevism.))
