I was playing a Mali game the other day tidying up some achievements and about 1550 I got an alert from Austria saying that the HRE had been disbanded due to the lack of suitable Emperors after the current Habsburg ruler died. This was during the reformation wars within the Empire and he hadn't passed any reforms so the elective system was still in full swing. I find it hard to believe that NOBODY was suitable for emperorship, so does anyone have any idea how this happened?
A few months on and almost all Imperial territory has been eaten by Austria, Bohemia, Denmark and France. Looks to be gearing up for some very interesting shenanigans in central Europe, I'm kind of annoyed that I'm out of the way in Africa and America so I can't capitalize on it
Furthermore, in this game, control of the entire Maghreb region seems to flip between Portugal and Morocco every 15 years or so, Portugal will eat all of it and then a few years later Morocco (now an OPM) will take it all back. They have been rinsing and repeating this for decades.
Also, a couple of games ago as the Ottomans, Reformed Christianity got crushed immediately because 2 of the centres of reformation were within fresh Protestant land (my guess is the Protestant provinces couldn't be converted yet due to the 30 year cooldown) and the other one was on Rhodes, which I promptly ate and converted.
Does anybody have any other odd stories of weird stuff the AI did in their games, and is it worth continuing a campaign I would otherwise leave just to see how these play out?
