The Warhammer and the Marauder will eventually show up in Battletech, but not in Urban Warfare

I quite like the CGL Warhammer... Somewhat more than the original unseen even....

The PGI one seems... Oddly proportioned.... and ugly.

Actually is there somewhere we can compare the CGL models to the originals?
Maybe sarna? But not here.

when it comes to redesigns of the unseens i have one main criteria;

if i cannot identify the chassis right away and have to think about it the artist did not do their job.

the reseen designs from project phoenix were horrible.

from what i have seen of the CGL unseens and the PGI unseen redesigns i have no issue identifying any of them.

so i will be happy no matter which way HBS goes.

Here’s my two cents...

I would prefer to continue to use the PGI models for two reasons.

1. Using the PGI models would contribute to a unified look across the IP. That would be an asset in bringing new fans to the community.

2. By using the PGI models we will have several unseen in the game faster than having HBS re make the models from scratch.

I also agree that the most important factor is being able to readily identify the mech, regardless of who made the model.

I agree with you, especially the first point. So much so that if PGI was to add the Hatchetman in MWO or MW5, I would hope they would use HBS's version for their game. Having the mechs look the same across both titles just helps add to the feeling that both games are taking place in the same universe, and that helps BattleTech just feel that much larger and robust IMO.

I just heard this on PGI's MECHCON Twitch Livestream.

Jordan and Mitch said that they were especially intent on providing BATTLETECH gamers the Marauder and Warhammer because they both had been in BATTLETECH's Kickstarter.

: )

SWEET!

Im more excited about this then any DLC or patch they could do ... :) well that and there be a reason to use these guys over a 100 tonner.

I agree with you. The Warhammer as pictured in this thread by either CGL or PGI is easily identifiable as a Warhammer. The CGL version looks more like a modified original Warhammer, while the PGI version looks like a modernized and rebuilt version (IIC anyone?).

But the main thing is, they are both definitely a Warhammer.

Oh this is the PGI IIC concept.

I personally would really love to have my old favorite mech Warhammer from my Tabletop times in the Game!

But only the style like in the old 3025 hardware manual, not this "new" variant...

It was not the best mech since to heat issues, but for me the coolest looking!

Maybe I'm a purist, but I can't think of the Warhammer and Marauder as looking like anything less than the original Macross Tomahawk and Glaug. You know, like they were shown in the original Battletech box set I got for Christmas 33 years ago...I'm not trying to show off, it's just that it was that sort of key art that got me into Battletech. That particularly sexy looking Locust in the ad I saw in Dragon Magazine, and the Warhammer on the box art...even the Archer on the Citytech box (why is Urban Warfare not called "Citytech", btw?)! It all had a particular style, even if they were taken from several different anime (as I would learn later), but then later on things begin to take an ugly, literally to my eye, turn in the art direction.

I suppose if they look close I won't be totally triggered and sperg out, but while that PGI IIC concept does look kind of cool in it's own right, that's just too far off the mark for my taste. It does work as a new model, like comparing a Ferrari or Lambo of today with one from the 1980s, but please, keep that in mind, HBS! It's just not the 3025 model that'd been in service for a good couple centuries or more.

Citytech also includes the clans (as of 2nd Edition). Urban warfare will NOT have the clans. Confusion avoided thus. Imho.
