while HotD add the WHM and MAD it does so kinda dirty.
they work but not 100%
they are meshes over existing models imported by hand from MWO; king crab was used for the MAD and i believe the orion used for the WHM.
they do not show up properly or not at all in the mechbay visually so you cannot change camo pattern.
in mission they work but have funkiness when taking damage; the WHM likes to twirl blown off limbs before they hit the ground.
also once a torso is gone you can get model tearing and see thru models and the cammo pattern is hard to see most times.

so ya...a mod was made to get them in game and more or less working.

do you honestly believe HBS would do the same?
what solhama joe is doing with that mod is FRIKKIN AWESOME but it is just a stopgap...something to give us a daily fix on the unseen until they can be done properly by HBS

that means their own models of the right shape and size.
their own animations, etc

that is not something that can be done quickly by a small dev team with an already full workload.
please be patient and understanding.

they are coming.

No but look how fast it was done in less then 2 weeks and in order for HBS to do it its going to take a year and they already hade people working on the models prior coupled with a working marauder. I just dont understand why it would take so long. Couples with the fact I doubt they stoped working on them during the lawsuit incase they won. eitherway would be nice for HBS to lay our concrete plans for what they meant instead of little blurbs that we then all have to dig deep into.

ALL work was stopped when the lawsuit came about.
and again...what work that had been done was PRE-ALPHA.
not beta....not even close to gold.
it all has to be redone.
no mesh coverups...proper animations unique to mek.

oh and a little FYI.

Battetech was released on 23 april.
Hangar of the Dispossessed was released on 2 july.
2 weeks? say what?
in your original post that i responded to you said a month...so which is it 2 weeks or a month?

lets try 2 months and a week or thereabouts.
you try to make it sound as if it was easy.
it wasnt.
Solhama Joe worked his arse off post release to get the MAD/WHM working.
it was not something that he just slapped together overnight.

so PLEASE stop making it seem as if it was nothing to make his wonderful mod.
and PLEASE stop making it out as if HBS is blowing wind up our kilts.

Time and money are limited resources, and creative work is unpredictable enough. Best to focus efforts on things that are crucial or certain to succeed, rather than something that might be scrapped at the whim of some judge.

As for the mods that added the WHM and MAD, the difference between those and what HBS needs to do is much like the difference between first aid and surgery: one quickly and superficially patches up a problem, but the other, much harder work is needed to actually fix it. What HotD did is impressive work for a dedicated hobbyist, but needs much more work to meet the quality of the rest of the game.

Oh, it was probably more than two months.I can't guarantee it, but there was probably a lot of prelim work started back during beta.

The unilateral rule, as applicable to game programming as to everything else, is anything you think is easy, simple and/or quick never actually is.

As I have often observed, there is no such thing as a simple job...

...

All that isn't even taking into account that they have probably internally already outlined their Expansions, what work needs to be done for them, and have started working on those assets. It may simply be that both Flashpoint was, and Urban Warfare is, too far a long to scrap aspects of it to switch gears. It is possible that HBS may wanted to finish those two expansions since they were/are already outlined, content defined, and tasks assigned.

Again this is all guessing on my part, however it seems like a solid guess to me. At least it makes sense to me when I think about it.
...

From a business standpoint, yours is a very good educated guess, imho, and I completely agree with your analysis.

This news makes my day. It will make Battletech finally complete once they get as many of those original TRO 3025 mechs into the game. I'd pay for many/most/probably even all of them. I think one of the main issues with the game currently is the lack of diversity. If it's 20 tons, it's a locust, I don't have to see it, and so on. The campaign and career modes become more difficult when you're facing so many different chassis' of mechs and their variants. It takes time to put together enough salvage to make a whole mech. I would love that aspect of the game.

Looking forward to what HBS can do with this. But even beyond just the unseen, please just keep adding mechs. We need as many as they can crank out.

that @HBS_Mazzoni is going to get to redo the art assets of the MAD to match that of his 'Red Duke' and take that style to the rest of the unseen

I know that I am in the minority when it comes to this opinion, but I actually like PGI's take on the Marauder. I hope HBS uses the PGI assets when it comes to the Classic BattleTech mechs.

It also keeps the designs uniform between both franchises, which I think helps give the feel that both PGI's creations and HBS's creations (the PC Gaming Aspect) both exist in the same universe...in a way.

Despite that though, I do hope that @HBS_Mazzoni has many chances to continue to do amazing work for BattleTech.
