There were quite a few suggestions on how to improve war in the beta-forum thread, and some of them should be feasable by modders through events. So I'm wondering (lousy scripter as I am) what could be done? And what do we want to do?

Primary ideas:
-weather-effects by event. Is it possible to have month and region as triggers/modifiers?
-Seatravel, possible to have fleets lost, modified by region and culture?

Any other ideas? only limitation is that is has to be event driven due to feasablity. Everything is welcome. Treason, logistics failure, desertion. Ambushed by locals. You name it...

And Welcome to the thread...

Region is possible. I believe an example of regional triggers can be found in the templar/hospitaler/knights teutonic troops events. I don't believe month is possible, though.

Month and day are not possible. However, if you make it a general "Bad weather weakens your position" event, it would not need months, since you can have bad weather every time of the year.

What kind effects they would have though?

I'm wondering...if it was made province-driven, simply slowing down all armies passing through the province? but then the invaders don't get the event message. Would it be possible to code an event that triggers only for recently captured provinces, for unwanted looting by indisciplined troops?

Attrition ,lower morale. If possible having a worse attrition value on cavalry. Maybe slow down travelspeed aswell?

Mainly I wanted to take up suggestions. Warfare just gets somewhat dull after a time. I raise my gigantic army. I pay a kings ransom (figurativly speaking) to ship them somewhere. Siege, battle. Then I pay a kings ransom (litterally), finish up the siege. Settle piece, whatever. Dispand. Done.

War is just a bit to predictable. Shipping WAY to easy. Seasonal combat not implemented. Everything just comes down to running around in your turf where attriotion kills of the enemy, then quick sieges. Every time. Since AI doesn't really give a challenge I wanted events to do it. Waging war on the other side of europe is routine, should be a nightmare!

-Is it possible to target regimenst of say culture A, in region B? frankish knights perish in the sinai, arabs do fine. Arabs in russia freezes to popsicles?

-Vassals who leads armies take control themselves? (what the fuck! I told you to stay at the border with 20K til I came, instead I find you have attacked the enemy, pillaged their capital wich I wanted for myself, and lost the entire army due to attrition! You imbecill!). Since generally vassals are way to nice compared with myself as a vassal.

-Commander die in pre-battle duel. Or a choice, pre-battle duel? amass tons of prestige, increase moral of your troops, be a hero, be everyhing you can be! end up in bed for the rest of your life as a bitter old man!

-Enemy taken hostage! release him (get mercy) claim a kings ransom! (for me that is.

-Entire Army is raping and pillaging the province we travel by. Local lord declares war!

Most of you ask are impossible with the event system. Only thing we can do to troops atm is randomly remove a regiment. If we would be able to target a specific regiment to remove, it would be possible to have regiments sink in sea. Attrition is not affected by events, although we could theoretically have province effects adding attrition, to represent winter for example, but AI would prolly be stumped by that move again. Not to mention a lack of month triggers would make it pretty odd winter.

We can't get any information about a regiment beyond how many of them a ruler has. Vassals could be made more bitchy, but that's tricky business, since we again can't remove specific regiments nor transfer control.

Dueling would be theoretically possible, but having duel affect opposing leader is next to impossible to made certain. Only enemy target character is "random_enemy", so if you are at war with multiple enemies, you are bound to target all the wrong people at times.

Declare war command has to be used on specific target, so I can't see how you would use it declare war on guys walking in your province.
