Since AoW came out I've been starting England games trying to get the War of the Roses to fire to see how it works with the new rebel system, how I cope with the event and how it damages England long term.
My latest game Henry died just two months into the game and I thought "Yes! Bring on the war". Only I was supremely disappointed to find that all that happened was a noble from the house of Stafford became king and nothing else. As the War of Roses has to have the trigger "has_ruler_modifier = low_fertility" which hadn't fired as I was so early in the game that no events had a chance to trigger
.
Edit: So the question is why does the War of the Roses require the extra trigger low_fertility? It's rare enough to have no heir when Henry dies, and it explains why I've only seem the War of Roses a handful of times in hundreds of EU4 saves.
