We are not really sure they are going to use the 3d kind of technology for there eu2 like games, right?

it's not the time yet! but in the future, when EU4, HoI3 and CK2 will leave their shelves, we will play a 3d simulation strategy game:) I promise you that!

I also is a nightmare in realtime combat, and when I played M:TW, I had to skip the battles and let the computer take them... What fun is that...?:(

I agree that a 3d gaming engine may not work well with EUII or CK due to the time line etc. I dont mind the 3d Battles, if the AI is competent its very challenging and a great dynamic to the game.

Who knows what will happen in the future, but the the 3D engine was purchased by Paradox, so its logical to conclude it might make it into a future title. So as far as system requirements HOI, and EUII arent very taxing, MTW (as an example) for me was.

Personally, would love to see a Paradox game soely on the Napelonic period, with 3D battles. That would be great.

Now that would make sense. Otherwise, i am anathema toward 3D battles in Paradox games.

I was guessing the same, perhaps some 3d in eu type of game in a few years from now.

I have 1GB on my home PC. I like it

At work we have a workstation with 2GB RAM for some heavier CAD 3D stuff...

I was actually going to say that :D Or maybe they're going to make a game version of the "Free Company" of AAR fame, with epic EU2-era battles that puts "Cossacks" and "Medieval" to shame :D

Perhaps the unamed "GH" project is 3d somehow?

Getting back to the orignal point, I thought the screenshot looked about right. Like EU and HoI with appropriate differences. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Universum universalis, even more to conquer ;)
Don't forget that the other subdivision of the parent company Paradox Entertainment makes non-strategy games that use 3D environments.

Are you sure about that? I mean i've read that there is another company Paradox, totally unrelated to Paradox Entertainment, maybe you've mistaken them for Paradox subdivision?

There is another division of "our" Paradox.

Rather than expanding into 3-D battles and such, I'd much rather have Paradox take advantage of increasing PC power to make their games even more in-depth and complex (i.e. huge numbers of gameplay factors to track, even larger maps, more complex battle variables, and so forth). I buy Paradox Games for strategy and gameplay, not eye candy - give us more of the former:)

Erm....

EUII looked twice as good as HoI did. And from what I've seen of the first CK screenshot (and from long practice of knowing how little a final version often differs from the first screenie) I would say that EUII will still look better.

Hell, EUII's map looks better then the Medieval: Total War one!

In any case, I really hope I'm wrong, since the first screenshot that Johan gave us of CK looked appalingly ugly, considering it was supposed to be the Levant.
