Ive been wondering this for some time now and I know Crusader Kings will have a higher performence need from the CPU so this will mean the graphics will be much better then EU2....BUT i also read that you could convert saved files from Crusader Kings to EU2, and now this is where im bothered at...Who would want to do that? I mean EU2 will sure look outdated compared to Crusader Kings.
And dont say it doesnt bother you cause i know it does!
Any comments?

However, all we know, is that it will be a new engine(which, btw rises some new questions...) and that sergei has said that he don't understand why someone would want to play the grandmother of CK(EU2) when they've played CK.:)

No, the real question is how can this bother anyone? Which part is the bothersome one? That you will be able to continue playing the game until 1819? I still play EUII a lot, and so does most of the people. The graphics in EUII do not seem outdated to me. They are just like counters, it is a strategy game, not a FPS or a so called RTS. It will bother me that they try too look to much like one of those game.

Neither EU2 or HoI was meant to be overly graphical, and the former of the two, I always thought, was supposed to represent a sort of large bord game. As for adding Medieval Total War type battles to it, I think it's a bad idea. Would destroy mp, it's not a turn based game, and takes a lot away from that dice rolling fell which is present in EU2. Imagine trying to play 300 years of actual warfare using that idea? Would take forever!

-I certainly don't consider those the most demanding of requirements. Indeed, in these days, those are so low that one can only heap praise upon paradox/snowball with doing so much with so little.

Nevertheless, I thought the screenshot rather dull. A brighter screen with higher contrast (and lighter colors) would be desirous.

Im quesing CK will be ok then for 233 Mhz same as EU 1 and 2 was.
After you errese sound/music files, of course.

You've got a 233 Mhz processor? Hey, here is an idea: try selling your computer to a museum and with the money get yourself a new one.:D

Please keep in mind that the cited requirements are estimates made early in development, and that they might change (and any eventual changes goes only one way).

Unfortunately one shouldn't expect to be able to run any new games on an old 300 MHz...

Yeah The TW series problem has always been the strategy map. Its good, but very unfulfilling. Paradox alrdy has this aspect mastered and I think they could do a great job with battles, just take notes on Creative Assembly's evolving battle system.

Agreed about the strat map, good point. I am looking forward to what Paradox has in store for 2004-2005. The purchase of a 3D technology suggests to me its going to get into some game down the road, unless its going to be developed for another company which I doubt.

Obviously with Vic and CK on the table now I am looking way into the future but whos knows what might be on the table this time next year. The problem is though, as is the topic of the thread system requirements and CPU performance begin to multiply when you talk about a 3d game. Most computers now can run anything but I know from my expirence with MTW it took an awful lot of tweeks and adjustments (virtual memory) to get it to run just right and even then I had so many CTD that I shelved it.

Still though the technology was purchased by Paradox per thier site, so its logical to assume that it will be developed and at somepoint put into a game and therefore require some consumers to upgrade thier PC's

I really hope that PAradox won't use TW style of combat! I really hate that kind of combat. It takes forever to load, and forever to fight, and in games as EU and CK, that will be problematic(long time lines and such). I also is a nightmare in realtime combat, and when I played M:TW, I had to skip the battles and let the computer take them... What fun is that...?:(
