I hope changing from a decentralized feudal state to a centralized empire isn't as simple as just pulling a slider. In reality, centralizing the state was a big challenge for monarchs and they often got strong resistance from the nobles and often the clergy and peasntry as well. Same thing with democracy- I think there would be some problems if China could just instantly go from what it was to a free democratic state, and an English King would definitley meet strong resistance if he tried to turn England into an absolute dictatorship. Before the French revolution, most change of this time period happened gradually, and hopefully the game will reflect that.

I hope that it will not be as simple as moving a slider. I'll got to say is this hopefully will be quite significant to the game. Maybe someone with some inside knowledge will be able to comment.

Just "guesstimating" here, but I would think that the sliders indicate how fast you are encouraging change. This would increase the turmoil of your populace (including nobles) thus encouraging rebellion and all of the nasties associated with that! Even if you max the slider, however, I do not think that the change would occur "overnight".

oh yeah and Hail Johan

Jeez, you want him to make the game and do your links for you - must be an australian...

I like sliders! Sort of. At the moment they're to simple, you could write an optimisation macro to run them and never worry about it again. But better than throwing in tech trees and all that sort of rubbish.

A couple more sliders would be good.

Although I'd prefer ones with notches.
