Just replace Lenape with USA in that scenario... you need to edit 1419.eug, The Grand Campaign.eug and LEN_1419 inside the 1419 folder.

But why oh why would you want to do something like that? :confused:

I like to play a small colony oof Englishmen whom have drifted of from their normal trading routes and landed on the American coast.
Here they settle and build a new country without any knowledge of their whereabouts.

I need to edit those files but what do I have to edit inside them???

If you're playing with 'vanilla' EU then I'd just use the scenario editor (avaliable with the latest [full] patch if you haven't got it).

Load up the grand campaign, and go to the countries tab, on the list at the top scroll down to United States... and click upon it. A dialogue will ask if you want to add this country to the scenario... select yes. Then using the arrow keys move the map so it's over N. America... hold control and click on any provinces you want them to own.

Now on the 'copy known from' box I'd suggest selecting England, then the USA will know what England knows. Change the 'radio button' to know and Control-click on any other provinces you'de like them to know (for instance a sea route home). Do the same with the national provinces (you may want the USA to claim all N. America, or else just close to Manhattan). Finally click across all the tabs, and change any options you like... most important are the religion (otherwise you'll be pagan), country cultures, treasury, and maybe give yourself an army (otherwise you might get swallowed by the indians early).

Not quite done yet! On the top options tabs go to province, and then click on Manhattan change the options as you'de like (e.g. culture to anglosaxon, religion to cagtholic / protestant / reformed)... keep the population above 1000 otherwise you'll be screwed.

Its sounds complicated to explain, but its quite easy and intuitive when you have it in front of you. If you have any problems, private message me with your email and I'll set a scenario up for you.

Well, I do not know whether you have PMed NeilJT and asked him about the scenario thing, but assuming you have not, and still need help (which your most recent post seems to indicate, though I really have no idea)....

If you want to play as the US, you would have to edit 1419_del.txt so it looks something like this:

Code:
# United States #

province = {
    id = 85
    religion = reformed
    culture = "anglosaxon"
}
province = {
    id = 86

}

This would give you anglosaxon culture, reformed religion, knowledge of all the stuff that England and the Lenape together would know (but not knowledge of the Atlantic, since you would have been blown off course and have to find your way home by exploring). You would also have cores on every province the U. S. has a core on in the 1795 scenario. However, I have not actually tested any of this, so I have no idea whether it will work---it is just an example.

Also, in TheGrandCampaign.eug, under "selectable = { }", you would have to replace DEL with USA.

If you want to play that they did not manage to get horses and shipwrights along, nor have contacts enough with europe to actually trade for such or get fresh ideas from there you could remove whiteman (or put it at 4, allowing first contact with europeans start your economy).

Being latin tech you'll gain techs very fast even if you have whiteman = 0 and know no other capitals..

I'd personally use a shorter 'known provinces' list, but that is my preference only.

I would like to make a nation named Vinland, with provinces from Belle Isle to right north of Lenape. And use one of the extra flags (since I don't know how to make one), that was made in the Mongol Scenario and trasfer them into the Grand Campaign. Possible?

Possible.

You'll have to use one of the Uxx tags, which will make it some work.

First copy the 'grand campaign' scenario file. In your copy, change the line 'selectable', adding (say) U11.

Also add at the bottom include = "scenarios\1419\1419_vinland.inc" and event = "scenarios\1419\vinland_events.txt"

Then in the 1419 folder add a file 1419_vinland.inc that changes culture of provinces to scandinavian (and religion to catholic if you think the settlements were late enough)

Province numbers are here: http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42046

And the .inc file should look a bit like the one above.

Event file is in 1419 folder as you see, but you link it as you want it.

If I'm wrong I hope someone mentions it, but I think this should work.
Else you'll have to make special versions of events.txt and 1419.inc and link to them from your own GC file.

Alright, thank you again for the good advices :) I will try it...

Gah - I forgat, to make the nation have the name 'Vinland' you'll have to change the text.csv in the config folder, the shields and flags get the name flag_u11.bmp and go to gfx/map/flags and shield_u11.bmp goes to gfx/map/shields. Leaders and monarchs go to db/leaders and db/monarchs named leaders.u11 and monarchs.u11

And keep visiting Havard's site - it's good :)

Hey guys thanks to you all, I will create the USA [or whatever name is more likely} (I prefer CSA ;) )

Nikolai I will take your advice, otherwise all will be far, far, far to easy and that is not how I meant it to be.

You will meet me again in an AAr on the scenario.

Another time very much thanks for your help.

I have tweaked two days and finaly created the united kinksdom in Manhattan "new London" Then i played for a few years and renamed all my colonies (in a KINKS fashion) and created a list of monarchs and leaders.

The last part I did in the savegame file (is this the appropirate way?).

Now I want to create some events, where and how do I do that?

If you want them to be used in the game, then yes.

If you want them to be used in future games you'll have to do one of two things.
1)Change USA leader & monarch file.
Or
2)add to your (nation).inc
monarchtable = "db\monarchs\mymonarchs.tag"
leadertable = "db\leaders\myleaders.tag"

And then add the files mymonarch.tag to the monarch folder etc.
The .tag can be any three letter combo, doesn't have to be usa. (When I used this function I used .txt as tag to save a step in editing :D)
