Thanks alot Jubal. I probably won't be able to use some of that info ingame, but I'm sure much of it can used in some way. Any chance you might know any more possible ministers I could make for them?
 
I'll surely try. Thinking about it..brigham young would be both head of state and head of gov't. Lot Smith would be the minister of army, I believe. Deseret minister of naval affairs would be purely hypothetical :rofl:

As for the others..I am unsure, but if not brigham young (the church was and is VERY autocratic..), then one of the quorum of twelve, or perhaps even head of the relief society (a women's group, but a..very big, women's group) for the economics minister.

Great Model for Civil War Strategic Game

I am so glad to have seen this post. This is one area where strategic war gaming via computer has under explored. There was an old style board game: Civil War 1860-1865 that covers everything from assignment of Generals to rail and commerce raiding, ironclads, cavalry and the like. It has all the theatres of the war and would be a great start to thinking through the issues involved in modeling and creating a true strategic simulation of the civil war. I can guarantee you I will buy this and many others too since there is definitely hunger for this game. Steelrain

Ok good and bad news. Bad news first: Stonewalls files were accidently deleated before he could send them to me.

Good news: He saved all the information on manpower figures so now all I have to do is go and put the in province files. Assuming I get this done soon (weekend maybe?) I'll be ready for a new, major release. Here are some of the major changes that will be in the new release.

-New IC levels for the North and South
-Changed infastructure levels for all of the United States
-Changed manpower layouts for the North and South
-New battlescenario based on the Mexican-American War, with all new leaders and events for it
-Many new graphics and other details
-A few new events for mobolization of the CSA and USA

Hopefully these changes will fix some of the problems with the USA being way too powerpowered

Ok after a few hours of work thi afternoon I have finished up most of the work and am ready to release beta version 0.3. I plan to upload tommorow morning so be on the look out tommorow. Until then here is the changelog for Beta Version 0.3:

-Added new battlescenario based on the Mexican-American War: 'So far from God, So close to the US'
-new scenario selection graphic of TWBTS scenario
-Added events to modify manpower output for CSA and USA (Manpower includes the black population who werent recruited until later in the war for the US)
-Added events to form State Militia/ 90 Days Militia (Hopefully will fix the problem in the Western Theater when the US quickly breaks through)
-Various new graphics
-Made West Virginia immpassible from Virginia (It was hard to move armies over the mountians in 1860)
-Changed Name of "Army of Mississippi" to "Army of Missiouri"
-fixed triggers for several events (they fired before needed)
-Added new ministers and territorial claims for Deseret
-Removed land from Apaches and gave it to Deseret
-Added more units to the West (having major problems with CSA or USA over running the entire region early in sceanrio, not enough troops)
-Added two locked units to Richmond and Washington (AI will sometimes leave them unguarded even when enemy controls a boardering province)

-Changed IC, infastructure and manpower levels (see list below)
DONE:
US - Manpower, infastructure, IC
CSA - Manpower, infastructure (IC level will be fine for now, but could be lowered to 50 or so)
Native Americans/Deseret - Nothing yet (no need to change at the moment)
France/UK - Nothing yet (Again, no need to change it yet)
Mexico - Nothing yet (Same as above, although the IC does need to be changed as it is way too high)

And now I'm pleased to announce that The War between the States beta Version 0.3 is finally realsed!! It took a bit longer then I though as I had to find a better, free host but now it is uploaded and ready for download. Be sure to check the readme and above change log (which is also in the download) for all info on how to install and such. Please, if you liked this mod, didn't like it, or just have general comments of questions please post here so I can address them. Thank you and I hope you all enjoy this new version, as I have spent alot of time on getting it ready.

Hmmm ya I've heard of people having that error before with mods. To tell you the truth I have no idea what's causing it. I'd say wait until some other people post feedback and if they have the same problem I'll try and see if there is something wrong with the game files (because the scenario ran fine for me before I packaged it and uploaded it). I'm sorry about this.

Maybe..for a patch u could make it easier to install like an install program that modern day scenario has.... but its only a suggestion...

I've used these programs for mods that I've made:

There are freeware versions and they're pretty simple to set up. With a little bit of work you can even set them up to scan the registry for the end user's installation if it is other than the default installation in Paradox's install path.

Be forewarned that you'll have to do something else if you plan to support a Mac version.

I'm slightly confused by the installation instructions. I've downloaded the file. I've dragged the folder into my HOI2 folder. I've made a copy of the HOI2 shortcut. I right click the icon and then select properties. This is where things don't seem to add up. First off, I have no "target", rather "location". I can highlight this line but when I tell it to paste your target line is done nothing. I've tried just typing in the correct path, but it won't even let my type in that space. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I was really looking forward to playing this mod. Thanks in advance.

Had a go with it the other day as the CSA- I drove the Union back into the North but ran out of steam. Looked like a frontline would have been established around New York in the East and St. Louis in the West. Then it would have turned into trench warfare :( I dunno as I had a CTD :rolleyes:

Hilsdorf great Mod u made!

It works like a charm and is fun to play, missing a few events and AI is dumb some times, but great fun.

I played game as CSA as well and USA kept washington but lost most territory, problem is that the MP is very low for CSA, so in the end u get in stalemate. With events to add flavour, you can make this a very entertaining Mod.
