So I reread the Turkey diary and saw the part talking about the Turkish interwar period so I went and read about it and a very long story short, at the beginning of 1936 the straits of the dardanelles, the Bosphorous straits and the seas in between were actually under control of an international commission in the League of Nations(which seems to mostly be a UK lead effort). In mid 1936 turkey asked for the major powers to meet to amend this treaty and give them more control. It would be great to have this be an event chain/decisions between the Soviets UK and Turkey (who were the 3 sides proposing plans).

In the end the Soviets and UK compromised and the new treaty allowed Black Sea states to pass military ships through the straits within a certain tonnage. While giving Turkey control of the straits. This would be great so the soviets can move their fleet out of the Black Sea without needing to invade Turkey. Also would allow Bulgaria and Romania to have fleets that aren’t stuck as well. And the mechanics for tonnage are already in from MtG with the London conference.
Additionally, the treaty in place at game start allows any country not at war with turkey to pass civilian and military ships through the straits. because the treaty wasn’t ratified till November of 1936 a belligerent power could still use the straits if fighting a war with turkey not involved (namely Italy if you wanted to invade Bulgaria or Romania early). we could also have Turkey support either the uk or Soviets more in the event chain/decisions which would lead to relationship bumps etc. The plausible alt-history scenarios could be great. Would the Soviets attack turkey if turkey refuses them access? Etc
I really hope this wasn’t missed. Seems like a fairly major part of regional Mediterranean geopolitics during the time period and really good alt history scenarios but I haven’t seen anything in the dev diaries about it so wanted to bring it up in hopes of bringing it to the devs attention just in case. If it’s been missed maybe it can get in a patch or the Barbarossa update.
