Another one: an option to let the game name deployed divisions after division type. For example, if I design a "Recon Division", then when deployed, they're automatically named "1st Recon Division", "2nd Recon division", etc. rather than just "1st Infantry division". Would actually be nice if you could choose to have the game include the province where the division was built, too ("1st London Recon Division", for example"). Make it a couple checkboxes you can click when deploying units or something.

Would also be nice if I could give divisions custom map icons, too, so that if I create two or more types of armoured divisions, for example (such as, one that I just use for reconnaissance and one that I actually use for fighting) I can tell them apart at a glance on the map ;) .

In extension of this..

1. Please make it possible to name a regiment type differently, depending on the division it is used in.
For example, if I have 3 motorized regiments in an infantry division, they should be named Infanterie-Regiment (mot.) 1, 2 & 3.
If I have a motorized regiment inside an armored division it should be named Schützen-Regiment 1

2. Please make it possible to tell different types of divisions to use the same ongoing numbering.
For example, if I already have created 1. 2. & 3. Infanterie-Division and I then create a motorized Infanterie-Division, it would be nice to have it named 4. Infanterie-Division (mot.)

These changes would save A LOT of time and headache for those of us who are kind of pedantic when it comes to unit naming :D


Edit: Another suggestion - If I lose multiple divisions because they couldn't retreat fast enough, it would be really nice to receive a popup just like when a division shattered. This way it would be much easier and more immersive to re-create these units (otherwise I have to figure out by myself, which ones were actually destroyed).

My tiny suggestion/request: since HoI1, I always play with counters for clarity and information, but really only need it for ground troops.
For planes and ships, I'd much prefer using the models. Any chance for being able to choose models or counters for each arm (army/airforce/navy) or a workaround ?

Beer button.

I would like to be able to insta regain org and morale by hitting a "beer button" on the unit information screen. :)

I could hit this button every day, but with an increasing negative modifier to max org and morale. To simulate drunkeness. :D

The negative modifier would wear off after a couple of days. :)

I dont think the abuse of drugs will be part of the game, even if it did happen. And it doesnt have to be in the game, imho.

(aware you were kidding - but i dont think this is place for it - ´tiny ideas´ get overlooked too easily anyways, despite being fantastic and easy to implement, sometimes)

I agree with this. I have also preferred a mix of counters for ground units but models for planes/ships.

This would be the coffee button for Norwegian divisions. Eventually you would have to hit it to counteract coffee addiction, and the cost for this would come on top of the costs for food, ammo, clothing, and butter.

Pop up when a puppet nation is facing an amphibious landing. I hate scrolling map to see half of Denmark being conquered without no notice!

You'd think at some point the puppet would pick up the phone and ask for help.

Allow me to share supplies with allies if I want to; for example, if I'm the USSR and allied with Nationalist China and their units need supply, they will get them from my country automatically as if they were my own units (ie. supply lines will be extende into their country).

Ability to custom-name a division as soon as it goes into the production queue.

(currently, I make do by maintaining a scratch pad off to the side. "'Sightseeing Sixth' = 'Sicilian Invasion 1'" or something like that. When they pop off the production line, I've often forgotten what they were originally intended for, so I look them up on the scratch pad, and rename them finally, and strike the names off.)

An in-game clock, like in Civ5.
An alert when you've played a certain time, like 2 hours.
An alert when your save games folder reaches a certain size. I never thought to check on how much space my save files occupied, and when I took a look just now, I ended up deleting nearly 5GB of savegames ;) !

This. I know you are trying to minimize popups (which I am a fan of), but really a popup every time a new theater is opened up would be amazing. It wouldn't just be when you or your allies are invaded, but also when your allies attempt a landing or such.

And/or you could have it so that we can designate some provinces as important and the game would notify us about invasion and or a fleet passing through.

That thought reminds me, can we set a threshold for how large an enemy fleet needs to be before it notifies us that it is spotted or that it has engaged one of our fleets?

I don't like to be swamped by popups in general, but as you say, a new theater opening up requires one. In single player games this should always be a popup and pause.

This. I know you are trying to minimize popups (which I am a fan of), but really a popup every time a new theater is opened up would be amazing. It wouldn't just be when you or your allies are invaded, but also when your allies attempt a landing or such.
I have always wanted an "[Country x] is storming an ally's beach" pop-up (and still do ;) ), but this is even better. Great idea!

- split the popups for getting strategic bombed or ground attacked. These are two completely different problems. It is anoying to get hundreds of popups about ground attacks when invading the SU when you just want to know where the enemy is attacking your industry. Maybe this gets fixed/irrelevant with the new air-combat though.

- Nerf the partisan system. In one game, playing the UK, I almost reconquered entire China by using the partisan cells, capturing a harbor for supplies and sitting in the mountains. Again, we'll have to see how this system works with battleplans and the more macro approach of HOI 4.

- If there is going to be some kind of OOB, name the different command-stuctures in the correct language. No '1st Army' in Japan please. I dont care if players doint know Japanese, because there are other ways to indicate it is an army (colourcodes, stars etc.)

- Regardless of how the new air-combat is going to work, please re-enter the option of automatically stopping when organisation drops below 'X'. No idea why they didnt keep this going from HOI 2 to HOI 3.

To your last point, I am not even certain that the concept of org means anything in the new air system. In the past, one of the things it represented was a way to reflect how much of a unit was currently unable to operate, damaged planes, fatigued pilots etc. Now that we are tracking individual planes, I'd much rather see a certain portion of those planes flagged as being unserviceable, waiting on repairs etc.

Having to babysit the old air units so they didn't get destroyed was one of the biggest sources of micro. Their aim seems to be to eliminate most of the micro in the air system so I am hoping that we don't still have to worry about individual formations beiing destroyed simply because we didn't intervene and give them rest orders.

Thinking about it, in a system where the fighting is a bunch of 1v1 and 2v1 dogfights, I can easily picture it with the results of those fights either being a plane is destroyed or it is damaged. I have trouble seeing how org loss fits into such a system.

Other aspects of org, like that suffered when you rebase, are easily rendered by making a percentage of planes temporarily unserviceable when you transfer to a new base. I have not seen anything definitive on org being involved in the new system, but in my opinion there is no place for org in the airwar any more.

I would like to be able to create/give leaders and ministers special traits. I know I am going to fight in the desert so I send Rommel to observe the Italian campaign and he earns the desert fox trait. Or ministers, I tap the university for a physics professor in order to boost my nuclear program. I don't want to be hamstrung by the historical ministers/leaders if I am trying to play an ahistorical game.

The ability to label provinces by giving them 'nicknames' so that I can see at a glance what they're going to be used for. For example, I might call a province 'Panzer Rally Point' so that when I get a pop-up notifying me of divisions having arrived there, I know what province the game is talking about at a glance ("19th Panzer division has arrived in Skopje, 'Panzer Rally Point'). Kinda like how you can rename provinces in EU3.
