Oh ho ho ho, nothing is impossible. Give it time and you'll have three or four World Conquests by Ryukyu in the Post Your Empire thread.
Fun fact is that in HOI3 I always considered a world-wide conquest to be horribly difficult. And out there you can have enormous armies conquering dozens of provinces at the same time.
Come out one guy even managed to conquer the world with Portugal though. But Portugal isn't in as bad position as Ryukyu.

So I'm most curious how anyone will achieve that without any cheats.

Actually yes. Some things are impossible.

It is just that we don't know if it's possible, so it could either be possible or impossible. EU4 has soft caps for overextension, so it might be impossible to prove that it's impossible, but that doesn't make it possible per se.

Dive naked directly into the sun, let's try to find how possible it is for you to survive :p

If he actually manages to get to the sun while naked it wouldn't be too surprising if he survives the dive.

Very clever of you.

I was referring to the fact that however hard I may thing something is in this game, someone ends up posting a screenshot of just that. I've never done a world conquest but I've seen plenty of people doing it with countries like Mali or Ulm.

Since Ryukyu starts with a 1/1/1 ruler your fortune is pretty much tied to getting rid of him as fast as possible. Which is something you cannot rely on ... even as a general of the troops he might live well into his sixties. Needless to say that it feels impossible to pick up from an additional 40 years of tech disadvantage.

Your trade income is also very tightly attached to mings/zhous well-beeing (or whomever might control your home trade-node) and can vary from 7-8 ducats a month to less than 1 in a few months.

In contrast to EUIII Makassar tends to allie up with Brunei - so even your way of conquest seems harder than ever before.

I'm trying to get Ryukyu to be at least a power to be reckoned with, but it feels definitley much much harder than in EUIII. :)

Ryukyu was a Chinese vassal state until the Japanese kidnapped the royal family, historically. The Japanese never treated them well. Oh, and those women and children sent on suicide missions against the Americans in the Pacific theater, from Ryukyu too. Even today many youngsters there don't identify themselves as Japanese.

So yes, definitely worthwhile to re-write the history of Ryukyu.

Just wanted to point out that this isn't entirely true. The royal family of Ryukyu paid tribute to both the Chinese emperors and Japanese, and traded a lot with the Shimazu clan, which is part of the reason they managed to get rich even though the sankin-kotai system was in place. They were never a "vassal" of anyone in so much as that Japan itself has never been a vassal of any Chinese ruler.

The royal family was also not kidnapped, but the Japanese simply claimed the islands as a protectorate, because they wanted to appear western just like the UK and France who were also doing that at that time. It's true that the Japanese didn't treat the Okinawans well, but no one treated the colonized peoples well in that time. As for the suicide missions, that's also only partly truth. I know a Japanese person whose father was about to be send off to do a suicide attack on the Americans, but was "saved" by the nuclear bombing of the city they were stationed in.
