I bought CK2 yesterday, loaded it up, had a go with the tutorial, but I couldn't play a campaign for more than a few minutes without quitting due to the ridiculously small text in-game.

I don't have bad eyesight, but I can't play this when I have to squint everytime I hover over items or characters and their information is displayed like this.

Is there no way to make the text larger? I really want to get into this game, but right now it's proving to be impossible.

Go to Video Settings. Then reduce resolution to the next lower setting for what is set which still fills your entire monitor screen.

For me:

The Video Resolution Default starts at 1280 x 1024. Reducing it to 1280 x 800 leaves bars at top and bottom of screen. Moving it to 1280 x 960 fills the entire screen and makes message fonts much clearer.

Your own specific setting will depend on the default your monitor video is now set. When you leave the game, your monitor default setting will return.

You might have bad eyesight., I can read is just fine on the highest resolutions, and I doubt I have perfect 20/20 eyesight. :p

I have heard this complaint often though. Maybe they should introduce a setting for it.

They should have a font size selection screen under settings. After all this entire game is reading messages and altering tables. Unit movements are very rare in this game.

This game is more like an eBook where our table selections can alter the plot. All eBook readers have a variety of font selections for the user.

I also want an option to increase UI and text size. But meanwhile, reducing it from my native 1920x1080 to 1600x900 makes it better to read. I have perfect eyesight and a huge 27 inch monitor so it's definetly a problem with the game, not the user or screen.

You're not the only one who finds the default setting too small. It's not just the text: the shields, pictures, everything is too small, especially compared to the wonderfully large shields in the first game.

Thanks for the advice on game settings, I'll try it out. My eyes thank you for this.

I have a 21 inch screen and have 1920x1080 resolution and I can read the text perfectly, so it must be something else.

I have a 24 inch monitor and still had to reduce the resolution from the default size for font clarity. We have different comfort levels and the game settings should provide a choice of fonts and sizes. Remember, this is a TEXT game - not a graphics game. Every eBook reader provides for user selectable fonts. This game should do the same.

All of us have different monitors as well. One person's 21 inch monitor may provide better clarity than another's 27 inch monitor. We also have different graphics cards and different graphics drivers. All of this could make a difference. The graphics drivers as well can be adjusted differently.

Until we get more information on the fine adjustments of our graphics drivers the simple solution is to reduce game resolution from the desktop setting to still fill the entire screen.

Finally, we are all different ages with different eye conditions - some known and some not known. Some eye conditions are correctible and some not. The game settings should provide for as wide an audience as possible.

I just tried it on a 24" monitor with 1920x1080 and I can't say that I found it to be the slightest difficult to read the text. Do any of you have a screenshot of it from your end that we may take a look at? There might just be a graphical bug you're experiencing.
