Van Engel : Indeed, now, for those English...

Mr Capiatlist : Indeed. But later wars will see war fatigue playing greater and greater roles, unfortunately.

Farquharson : It's indeed a shame, however I make it even worse. Indeed the first time I had this event, I somehow managed to click it away, without having read it. Suddenly, my nation was in great upheaval and the capital was in Brabant and all that! I was pretty pissed of since I had indeed driven Dauphiné from Berri before they could take it back. Now I  reloaded, just because I had not read the event! Fortunately I had a recent save but the war against Dauphiné was a little more difficult. Anyway, had I chosen to continue I had made the right choice anyway...

Great Burgundy

Hi ppl,

Recently I did some modding of my own (rest assured, no event modding), let's just say that at some point I will become France, just not the France as we know it. I will get the tag and thus all the events, but I have edited the countrycolor, shield and name of France to become Great Burgundy! Bwahahahah...

Well done Grundius. I've always found Scotland a good ally against the English since they can a least distract them from what's happening on the continent as you capture those English controlled provinces. :D What ‘s your goal after you’ve taken all of France?

Storey : More ppl in the audience! Great! I off course will strife to get ALL of France, including territories curently held by England and Aragon, of course. I want to use my Casus Belli on those guys (once I get it through France's shields) to subject them to my rule as well. I always want to grab as much of the world as I can. In my last game I united all of Europe except the Knights and Cyprus (allthough she was a vassal) under my rule as Austria. This time I want to take it all, if possible. We'll see if I get that far! Anyway, I intend to vassalize England in the next war against them or at least cripple them enough to take them later. Aragon should follow also, especcially since they are allied with the Papal States and should therefore pose a problem if my Bad Boy goes sky-high. Taking Aragon will probably lit the fuse with Spain, so I should be prepared for them, to take them out next.
I also briefly had the plan to take Novgorod out as to get a foothold in Russia while I still can. What do you guys think of that?

Too bad, It was a fun story. Perhaps, someday...

Maybe you can try it again and modify a few things so you don't start as a vassal and have ships and an army ready.. just to get you off to a nice start. Add some shields here and there.. I know that might be cheating to, but hey! It makes for a great read :D

And England again...

Allright people, I was somehow cut off from Paradox Plaza for two days, so this post was delayed but here it is:

After the crushing defeat of Dauphiné, Phil decided it was time to repair both our armies and our relations
with other monarchs in Europe. Burgundy may not have been the most disrespectable state of the time, it still
was not exceptionally popular. By March of 1433, Phil himself commanded some 17,500 infantry and 8,000 cavalry, while his
trusted second-in-command, Jean de Pressy, commanded a like force with 1,000 infantry less. In Flandern, the Burgundian
fleet was now up to 5 warships and 4 transports. Not the most impressive force, but enough for a small invasion force to
be carried over the channel, for that was the only goal the fleet had, for now.

The period from November 1432 to December the next year was a relative peaceful one, with several members of the royal
family married of to Frisian, Hungarian and Venetian nobles, as well as to the royal court of Strassburg, which had
declared it's vassalization with Tyrol null and void in around August. This was also the time a meteor cut through
the night sky, taken by the supersticious peasants as an ill omen for the days to come, causing them to openly doubt
the policy of Phil. It did not cause mayor problems. As a matter of fact, by December war exhaustion from our
righteous campaign against that pathetic pretender the Dauphin had subsided. The time had come, to take on that
other vile infestation of Burgundian lands, the English.

Our declaration of war had not reached London or the so-called English general Bedford was already utterly defeated in
Normandie. He could not escape and was captured. He grovelled before Phil, like a true Englishman, for his life, and Phil,
allthough disgusted at this behaviour of an English so-called "nobleman", granted it, with a swift boot to the hindside.
So, In December we, Provence, Lorraine and Scotland are at war with the English, who are in turn supported by
the always annoying Irish and offcourse, the traitors of Brittany, which were loathed even more than the Dauphiné for siding
with the oppressor.

Several of our forces invaded the English-held provinces of Picardie, Normandie, Caux and Calais. More supporters for our cause
came as the recently liberated inhabitants of Cervennes raised 5,000 cavalry to aid in oour cause. The war was quite uneventful,
with Calais the first province to fall to out forces in August, while our allies in Provence laid siege to Gascogne in September.
We captured Caux in October.

Now the time had come for the vile traitors of Britanny to meet their doom, in the person of Jean de Pressy. He invaded
their capital of Morbihan in November 1434, yet was repelled! Not a man to tally, Jean gathered the morale of his fine
forces and returned with a vengeance in February of '35, curshing the inferior Brittanese army and laying siege to the
province. With the fall of Normandie in May, Phil was now free to join the battle versus Britanny, and he did so
by crushing their routed army in Vendée in July, laying siege to the province.

As in October Gascogne falls into the hands of the Provence, our vassal, December sees the liberation of Morbihan by Jean and he
marches to Bretagne to crush the Britannese nationalists who rebelled against Phil in the hope their so-called motherland,
Britanny, would defeat us. A vain hope but hey, people who rebel against Burgundy are not by default the brightest. Needless
to say, Jean defeats them in January, publicly rubs his backside with the flag of Britanny and sends them home.

Now, a bold plan, hatched by Philippe himself, is set in motion as he sends Jean of to invade Wessex, a province in southern
England. Our fleet is dispatch and begins the blockade of the province, meanwhile carrying Jean to the English shores where
he begins the siege. Upon arriving in England, scouts report a massive English force of 40,000 men stationed in Anglia.
Apparently, the Thames river is too much of a hurdle for them to take to expunge Jean from English soil, so they remain there,
frightened but hardly alone, and call for their mommies to defend them against those Bad Burgundian Bastards(tm).

in May a diplomat arrives at the court, offering his services. A quick glance of our diplomatic corps shows we are well-supplied
and his expensive services are rejected (random event: Exceptional Diplomat available or something). Nonetheless, our own diplomats
are ever succesful with Britanny, as upon Phil's capture of Vendée, they hand over the province and swear allegiance to their
rightful lord in Dijon as vassals. We just relieved England of her most "powerful" ally. As a matter of fact, the Britannese show
their true nature as unthrustworthy dogs by joining our alliance in september, effectively attacking those armies that were there
allies merely a month before! Immediately they send their forces into Ireland. Better theirs than ours. A minor setback happens
before Brittany joins the winning side, as our blockading fleet is defeated and send back to port by the English. Still,
the English' massive 40,000 men army still cowers before Jean in Wessex, which falls in December '36.

Our Scottish allies meanwhile, may have captured Northtumberland, yet Lothian and the Grampians are in English hands. Jean decides
to march to Lothian, since the Scots themselves are busy liberating the Grampians. While he's at it, he'll do a little site-seeing
in the English countryside, but not before marching to the banks of the river Thames and giving the order to moon the 40,000
Enlgish puffs on the other side, and order gladly carried out by his men. Members of the Dauphiné Freedom Front who revolted in
Lyonnais - saying it was because of the nation's aggresive tendencies, which naturally, was rubbish - are all shown the sharp end
of a sword. Well, such things are not very pleasant and the DFF was offically disbanded.

In May we have a troubling boundary dispute with some nation (apparantly so insignificant that it's name is not to be recorded).
More instability in the realm is not something Phil desires, so he pays them off, not before realizing the royal treasury was
insufficient. Some Dutch loanshark, who is so rich he could buy a country, lends Phil some 200 ducats.

A black day in June sees the death of Jean de Pressy who, as always, was busy besieging something. A lesser man will have to
liberate Lothian, and Jean, as well as his sharp sense of humor (his finest work of course being the Mooning of Anglia - by now
a legendary event in Burgundian history) will be dearly missed. He would not see the treaty in which England recognized Burgundian
sovereignty over Picardie, Normandie, Calais and Caux. In August 1436, the English war of 1433-'37 has ended, with an astounding
victory for the Burgundian Alliance, now consisting of Burgundy, her vassals Britanny and Provence, and the sovereign states of
Lorraine and Scotland.

(Screenshots will follow with next installment, more war is on it's way!)

Huh? What? Who? Where?

Van Engel: Okay, so It wasn't a problem with my comp. Fortunately :D

Mr Capiatlist: Screenies will follow.

Allright ppl, here we go again :D :

Now, let's return to Charles. Charles? Ohhh Charles Dauphin of France? Where are you hiding now you useless pretender to the throne? Ahhh! There it is: A small piece of land called Dauphiné! How touching bwahahahah. In November the final crusade starts to rid the world of the Dauphin. Phil sends the declaration in November 1437 and the Dauphiné's allies of Savoy and Foix honour their alliance, as do Lorraine, Scotland, Provence and Brittanny on our side (allthough some decline at first, but then rejoin my alliance. You've gotta love the AI :D ).

In April we send word to our misguided brothers in Savoy a message of peace yet they refuse. And our merchants are quite unhappy with that to, so they decide to monkeywrench our research in the trade area. In December, Dauphiné [insert manic laughter here] demands [insert even more manic laughter here] that we hand over the [really, I'm roling on the floor here] Lyonnais. Savoy however, has more to demand as they have taken the capital of our vassal, Provence, and attack Lyonnais themselves. They can however not stop Phil from taking Dauphiné in January and annexing the last realm loyal to The Dauphin. He tries to hide in his mother's closet, but he is sniffed out by Phil's favourite Pitbull who drags Charles out of there by his tight trousers. We have a nice station for Charlers, he can serve as the royal pigstables cleaner.

In May our recent succes is reflected in our economy by an exceptional year, while in July we regretfully have to crush the men of Savoy, to show them the error of their ways. Oh well. Savoie is put unde siege, as well as Provence, to liberate them from Savoyese clutches.

In January '40 Holland revolts. An army is raised in Flandern to put the revolt down. Fortunately, on the other side of the country, Savoie, the capital of the Savoyese, falls into our hands. The army marches on Piemonte and in February, brush away the token resistance there and lay siege to the province. However our Ill-conceived plan of invasion in Foix (Foix could only be reached by sea since England still controls Gascogne and Aragon holds Roussillion, and I have a treaty with neither) fails. On top of all that the merchants are AGAIN not happy in June. Why they hamper their own research because of that is a mystery to Phil. Perhaps a litlle more inovativeness in the nation's policies? Well, it get's the stability down, that's for sure. More good news comes from Holland where our army is thrown back over the river by the rebels.

In November, Phil himself wins against the forces of Savoy attempting to free their capital, and than he marches on to Limousin, to deal with the Savoyese there. It is of no consequence, as Savoy decides to end the war by offering Piemonte and 352 ducats. Greedy as he has become, Phil takes the offer, other than pushing for full vassalization (Well, what can I say, one of those pesky "temporary insanity of player" events ;) ). A few days later, a royal marriage is already arranged between the two brother kingdoms. The war of Dauphinese eradication has ended, and Burgundy is becoming more and more popular in Europe :O. By the way, those tenacious Hollanders defeated another of our attacks. It is getting tiresome.

Remember that dutch loanshark that could buy a country? Well apparantly someone has put a country up for sale. We buy Luxembourg with another loan and it becomes our vassal. Great! Yet they will not join our alliance. The entire year of 1441 is rather a tirseome year, with numerous rebelllions bing put down throughout the realm (except the one in Holland offcourse, tenacious dutch bastards!), however 1442 starts with the anouncement that Albania now is a Sunni nation. Right... Again a number of revolts are put down but then, in April, Strassburg insults us? What? Phil has already made a fitting letter to reply along the lines of "bastard", "dogs", "scum", "all your lands are mine", but he decides not to send it, wisely, as we are not ready yet for a full-power invasion into the mediterranian (Strassburg's allies are Genoa, Milan and Venice, and we can only reach them, for now through Piemonte and our vassal Provence, not very strategic. )

We are however, treated to another war in the Med as Aragon decides to we are to be kicked in the butts. They drag with them, the Casus Belli magnet of the Papal States. Time to bring a swift end to the war. First, we pay of one of our loans in June, then Phil decimates the Aragonese in Guyenne and besieges the Province.

In March 1443, still no nations decides to punish us for being at war with the Papal States, but we have to take some inflation for not introducing a new tax. In July, Luxembourg is inherited by Phil and it is confirmed that the loanshark could indeed buy a country, allthough we did it for him :D. With Luxembourg come some 23,000 men. Quite the bonus for a nation at war over mountainous terrain!

In September Holland is finally back in our hands. Now, to bring the full smack down on Aragon. In October the battle of Roussillion is won and we march on Gerona, where the Aragonese are again crushed and the city if put under siege. The war is looking great for us! Albania meanwhile, is Orthodox again.

Events take a turn for the worst however, in March 1444 as a wave of obscurism causes the people to once again be displeased with the government, and this manifests itself (combined with war-fatiigue) in a revolt in Caux. Allthough naval technology reaches level 2 in August, we are forced to take a 98 ducats peace deal from Aragon in to free up our forces for the coming revolts. We had Aragon on it's knees. Well, we'll get back at ya.
Fortunately, despite the obscurists, stability went up.

Well, now the Empire looks like this:
FranceOct1444.jpg

By February 1445 (I'm afraid I do not really know what happened to the revolt in Caux, probably lost my notes. I do know the nation was at peace by Februay 1445) the situation is like this:

Burgundy is ruled by the most venerable monarch Phillipe (Phil) le Bon (the Good). Inflation is at 5,4% and we are not quite friendly people, with a badboy of 29.2/40. All techs are at 2 and stability is at +2. We have an alliance with Scotland, Lorraine and our vassals Britanny and Provence.
The Main enemies are: Aragon (Papal States, Knights of St John) and England (Connaught, Leinster, Ulster). Foix and Savoy are allied as well, and control French soil, but they do not pose a real threat. Our armed forces consist of two 12,000/7,600 armies as well as a 7/0/4 fleet.

Well, that's that for tonight. The next few years will see the diplomatic side of Phil, as more and more of the world is brought under Burgundian leadership, one way or the other...

Lennox: I'm glad you enjoy reading it. I sure do writing it :D.

Farquharson: Indeed I have plans with Aragon (btw they got that province through the "Collapse of the Kingdom of Burgess" event) yet I must plan them carefully, because they have an alliance with the Papal States. If I do strike at Aragon, I'd like to vassalize the Papals just to get them out of the equation.

Mr Capiatlist: Yeah! I like that color so much, I altered the "Throne of France" event to keep it even after I become "France" :D
