Hello all and welcome to my first AAR, The Sunni Invasion. As many of you may know, there is currently a mega sale on for paradox games around steam. I, among others, purchased a lot of DLC today (Scots have never looked better). The two most important ones I purchased were the Ruler Designer and Sword of Islam. This AAR will start with a custom Arabic Sunni count in southern Ireland. Mods I will be using :

+Minimap Emboss
A Clean Map Mod
A Revolutionary Borders Mod
A Revolutionary Tooltip Font
Battle Prisoners
Declare Friends and Rivals
Destroy and Convert Settlements v6
Duchies Claimed
Everyone Can Start Mercenary Companies
Old Portrait Frames
Restore Rome as Any Religion
Right Click to Interact Remover
Ruler Designer Unlocked
And of course the fantastic Suez Canal!

This is played with all major DLC (including Sunset Invasion) and a multitude of Graphical DLC

Hope you enjoy!

The goal of The Sunni Invasion will be for the Jazrid dynasty to become the Caliph of any Muslim religion (preferably Sunni) and restore the Roman Empire, creating a Roman Caliphate. One of my initial goals will be to convert all of Ireland to Sunni, and maybe even convert it to the Bedouin culture. We will be starting in the Charlemagne start, 769, as the Arabic Sunni count of Desmond. Due to the fantastic Ruler Designer Unlocked! mod Idris will start with 4000 troops for RP reasons to help him in his initial conquests of Ireland. Scroll down to the first update for more. I will convert this to EU4 if readers want it.

Since I added one too many reservation, I will tell you about myself a little. I am a fourteen year old (as of time of writing) male with a penchant for real time strategy and fantasy RPG games. I am a true blue Aussie, straight outta the Golden State (Western Australia for the uneducated), and have read a huge amount of AARs before this sale occurred. Now that I have all the DLC for CK2, i finally felt like I could write an AAR. Hope this goes well, and thankyou in advance!

Our character shall be Idris Jazrid. Idris is a bastard from unknown parentage, and the only thing he knows about his history is that he is a Sayyid, descended from Muhammad. He is quite quick and strong, and is known to also be brave. He is zealous, diligent, patient and ambitious, but he is arbitrary and lustful. His education led him to becoming quite skilled in tactics, and he will use those to conquer the land of Eiré for Allah, and for his own prestige.

He landed at Desmond (known as Deasmhumhain to the local Irish)with an army of 4000 soldiers, with a centre of 2000 heavy infantry, 1000 Light Cavalry on the left wing, and 1000 horse archers on the right wing. Idris himself commanded the army, but had the local bishop, Talan of Cloyne, and a local Irishman by the name of Dunlaing mac Eladach to lead the flanks.

His life was focused around War, but he longed to get married.

Idris' assembled council consisted of the chancellor Connath mac Artgal, who was sent to improve diplomatic relations with the King of Pictland, the marshall Dunlaing mac Selbach who was commissioned with training soldiers in Desmond, the steward Artgal mac Fer-da-Lethe who was sent to settle an Arabic tribe in Desmond, and begin Idris' grand plan of the Arabicization of Ireland, the spymaster Fergal mac Eladach who was sent to uncover plots in the capital, and the Imam Qawurd Qawurdid who was sent to convert the local Catholic Irish in to good Sunni Muslims.

Thus ends the first chapter of hopefully many in my first AAR! Tell me what you think!

It's an interesting start and I'm subscribed. It's good to try your hand at writing an AAR if you have any interest in it.

Are you thinking of doing a gameplay or a narrative AAR style? Actually, you might enjoy looking at the AAR discussion board.

On a side note, I've just posted an article about the possible Middle-eastern origins of Irish genetics.
